Mission Statement

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church is a family of Christians

Growing in faith and reaching out in love

Welcome to God's House which is the spiritual home of all who worship today, wherever you may be. Partof Prince of Peace Church's mission statement says that we are "a family of Christians." Because God hasmade us family, we are together, even though we are physically separated, to receive the Lord's strength,comfort and peace. Christ, our brother, is with us, and his presence will change us. As new people, we leavethis time of worship to live our daily lives in the world as ambassadors for Christ. The Glass Cross on the Altar is unique. There are only 3 of these handmade crosses in the world. Theother two are in congregations with whom we share our ministry. One is on the altar of Kopano LutheranChurch in Mogwase, South Africa and the other is at the Evangelische Stadtpfarrkirche Hermannstadt inSibiu, Romania. These Lutheran churches are ministry partners with us with whom we have shared visits,resources and mutual support. Each Sunday as we gather in worship under this common cross, we arereminded of our faith in our Savior, Jesus the Christ, whose Spirit unites peoples of different countries,races, cultures and histories under His benevolent love.

C O God, you gave your only Son to suffer death on the cross for our redemption, and by hisglorious resurrection you delivered us from the power of death. FIRST READING Acts 10:34-43

Peter’s sermon, delivered at the home of Cornelius, a Roman army officer, is a summary of the essentialmessage of Christianity: Everyone who believes in Jesus, whose life, death, and resurrection fulfilled the wordsof the prophets, “receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

Peter began to speak to [the people]: “I truly34

understand that God shows no partiality, but in35

every nation anyone who fears him and does what isright is acceptable to him. You know the message36

he sent to the people of Israel, preaching peace byJesus Christ—he is Lord of all. That message37

spread throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee afterthe baptism that John announced: how God38

Easter means new life for us as it first meant new life for Christ. His resurrection reshapes the entire focusand motivation for our lives since we are now hidden with the risen Christ in God.

If you have been raised with Christ, seek the things1

that are above, where Christ is, seated at the righthand of God. Set your minds on things that are2

above, not on things that are on earth, for you have3

died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.When Christ who is your life is revealed, then you4

Sorrow gives way to “fear and great joy” when two women are sent by an angel to proclaim the good news:Jesus is risen!
