Easter baskets

Easter baskets. Traditionally, these

are filled with candy treats such as

chocolates and jelly beans, usually in

the shape of an egg. There may also

be hollow plastic eggs with coins or

other treats inside.

Easter eggsAt Easter the British celebrate the idea of the new birth by giving each other chocolate Easter eggs, which are opened and eaten on Easter Sunday.

Easter cakes

On Good Friday bakers sell hot

cross buns, which are toasted and

eaten with butter. These small, lightly sweet yeast buns contain

raisins or currants and sometimes

chopped candied fruit.
