YEAR-AT-A-GLANCE Ongoing PTO Programs for Students
East School Explorers
After school, fee-based, non-profit enrichment program available to students to pursue interests or develop new ones! Gardening, Video Production, Floor Hockey, Yoga, Trivia, Skateboarding, Soccer, Clay, etc… Classes vary each semester. Offered Fall & Spring 3PM-4PM. Six weeks per term
Get Smart About Art (GSAA)
A series of in-class workshops in which a particular artist and corresponding style is introduced and a follow up art project is completed by the class. Two grade level coordinators organize each workshop and each session includes a parent volunteer presenter and several parent volunteer art project assistants. Runs January - June with a culminating Art Show & Film Festival the first Wednesday evening in June.
All School Meeting (ASM)
Coordinated with various Spirit Days at school. All School Meetings are typically held once a month. Coordinated by a staff team, ASMs are hosted by the fifth grade and feature grade level performances, a PTO presentation, presentation of birthday pencils and recognition of compost helpers. Spirit Days are dress up days such as East Spirit T-Shirts, Red/White/Blue, Sports teams, Favorite Book Character, etc..
Spirit T-Shirts
Available for sale at Curriculum Night, the Back to School Bash and via the East School Store in the front office, East School spirit t-shirts are color coordinated by grade. Featuring the East School logo on front and the grade number on back. East School T-shirts are a great way to show school pride during Spirit Days and on Field Trips.

Birthday Books
Families can donate books to the East School library in honor of a child’s birthday, a special teacher or the memory of a loved one. Close to their birthday, the librarian invites the child to the library to select and check out a new book. Families are asked to complete the bookplate and return it to the library.
Math Olympics
Students have a chance to participate in an “extra-challenge” school wide math program throughout the school year. Worksheets are downloaded off the Math Olympics section of the East School website, completed and submitted to the classroom teacher each Thursday. Star charts in the front hall map students’ progress and certificates are awarded for number of worksheets completed
1001 Book Club
1001 book club encourages future and current East School children to love reading! Families can start anytime and with children at any age so long as they are able to listen to a story. Register by completing the form on the East School website and receive a fun progress chart with stickers. Sign out a bag from our library of 2000 books located in East School’s Multi Purpose Room. Each bag contains 10 books which children can read or listen to. Return the bag, and sign out another one. Repeat as often as you like. Children receive milestone awards at our school once they are in Kindergarten - a certificate at 330 books, a special book at 660 and a trophy at 1001. Read On!
BOKS (Build Our Kids’ Success)
A before school physical activity program run by parent volunteers who have completed the BOKS training program. This 40-minute class includes warm-ups, movement drills, running activity, obstacle course, games and a BOKs Bit nutrition discussion. This program prepares students for a day of learning and helps them identify early the benefits of exercise and healthy choices. Fall, Winter & Spring. Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. 8:00AM-8:40AM. 40 students per session selected by lottery due to high demand.

Teacher Assistance Grants (TAG)

Sunshine
Special occasions and events for school staff and families are acknowledged in an appropriate way. Coordinate notes or flowers during a difficult time, as a thank you or as a Congratulations! Coordinate and assist with new “meet & greet” program for new East School families.

WHAT: Donate Now
When East School opened in 2009, parents overwhelmingly voted in favor of a one time donation rather than being asked for money for every event. Its time to make your tax-deductible gift & we thank you for your support!
WHY: East PTO Spending is $100 Per Child
All of the events listed on the previous pages result in your PTO spending approximately $100 per student per year. While we encourage you to use $100 per student as a giving guideline, donations in any amount are needed!
HOW
ONLINE (preferred) East School Website, PTO tab, PayPal Donate button

EAST PTO ANNUAL APPEAL
GIVE ONCE: KIDS BENEFIT ALL YEAR LONG!
Last June's final All-School Meeting had culminating fifth graders sharing their East School memories. Virtually every PTO sponsored enrichment program and event was mentioned in these memories. Through your generosity, East PTO partners with your child's classroom teacher to sponsor all field trips, special presentations, community service initiatives and Math, Art, Music & Environmental Enrichment. From the Back to School Bash, to cafeteria composting to Field Day, your donations to the Annual Appeal make "East Memories" happen.
As an added incentive, names of children from participating families are entered into drawings throughout the fall for exciting prizes and winners are announced at All School Meetings. We'd like every child included so please, give! Thank you for your support.
