Purpose of the meeting
• To provide information on the Draft Core
Strategy
• To introduce some of the groups and explain
the similarities and differences between us
• To share information with you and avoid
multiple meetings
• To ask for your questions and feedback

• 13 local ward councillors
• Responsibilities include:– The Pavilion, sports field & children’s play area
– The Cemetery
– The Paddock
– The Triangle flower bed
• Provide venues for:– Pre-school
– East Coker Cockerels
– East Coker Cricket Team
• Meet the second Wednesday every month– Public are welcome to attend
• Advisors to:– Planning applications
– Highways and Footpath issues
• We aim to look after the best interests of the Parish

• Formed in 1975, administered by an elected Committee and governed by our Constitution.
• Everyone who lives or works in the Parish of East Coker is a member.
• Publishes quarterly Newsletters which are distributed free of charge by email or as hard copy to all households and posted on our internet site.
• Supports local clubs, societies and organisations.
• Promotes village life, heritage and sense of community.
• Other interests include conservation, education, recreation and communication.
• Non profit making – expenses are supported entirely by donations and fund raising.
Actions (Draft Core Strategy)
• Review the evidence.
• Expose the limitations of the evidence.
• Question the need for an urban extension.
• Expose the limitations of a southern location.
• Find an alternative location (a northern
option) with evidence to back this up.
