    Billions o pounds will be channelled into the oshore

    wind industry over the coming decade with ports at the

    heart o operations.

    Investors will be looking or maximum support and

    benet and East Anglias ports are second to none

    or their quality, availability, expertise and strategic

    relevance to the latest oshore developments.

    The cluster, which includes Harwich, EastPort UK,

    Lowestot, Felixstowe and Ipswich, can oer acomplete range o acilities with available quay

    space and ample opportunities or growth and

    supply chain which has served the energy industry

    the area, with skills ranging rom cabling and drilling,

    hydrographic surveying and geosciences to electronics

    the natural assets around the East Anglian coast.

    The region is also well connected by road, rail, sea and

    air to all areas o the UK and mainland Europe. London

    and the South East are easily accessible via the A11,

    while journey times to London Liverpool Street by rail

    are just under two hours. The Midlands and the North

    can also be reached via links rom the A14, one o the

    countrys main East-West routes. Norwich International

    Airport, which has a helipad and oers worldwideconnections via Schiphol in Amsterdam, is within easy

    reach, as are London Stansted and Luton airports.

    And Bond Air Services has installed a new hanger and

    helipad at Lowestot.

    The port o Lowestot has an established reputation

    or supporting the North Sea oil and gas industries

    and is ideally placed or ast access to the North Sea

    wind arm zones, particularly East Anglia Array, Greater

    Gabbard and Hornsea.

    Owner ABP is the UKs largest ports group, with 21

    ports located around the UK. Its subsidiary, ABPmer,

    oers oshore wind environmental assessments,

    metoceon orecasting and strategic research.

    Lowestot was the construction site or the Round 1

    Scroby Sands wind arm and is the operations and

    maintenance base or the Round 2 Greater Gabbard

    scheme, being developed by Airtricity/Scottish and

    Southern Energy and currently the worlds largestoshore development.

    Siemens operates rom the port, supporting the

    building and commissioning phase o Greater Gabbard,

    and Bond Helicopters service the wind arm rom a

    A major investment opportunity has been recognised

    at Harwich Bathside Bay. Building on its ormidable

    experience in the oshore renewable sector, Harwich

    International Port is bringing orward a major new portdevelopment at Bathside Bay.

    Detailed planning applications are being sought to

    amend existing consents or the development, with

    habitat mitigation measures and harbour orders already

    agreed. No other UK port has consent to expand on

    this scale and the ability to be operational by 2014/15.

    The redevelopment o Bathside Bay oers a multi-

    unctional manuacturing and assembly site which could

    be capable o supporting multiple large-scale acilities,

    as well as providing a prime installation base. It is ideallylocated to serve the UKs Round 3 projects, as well as

    uture developments o the German, Dutch

    The development will increase the ports depth or

    access to 15m below LAT (lowest astronomical tide)

    and provide 1,400m o extra quay or heavy loadings. It

    has no air drat restrictions and is one o the UKs best

    naturally protected harbours. The port boasts regular

    erry services to the continent, rail connection rom

    the port to London and east and west coast mainlines.Stansted Airport is less than an hour by road.

    Best known as the UKs largest container port, the

    Port o Felixstowe can also support the oshore

    wind industry.

    With work continuing on the ports Felixstowe South

    Reconguration, which will keep the port at the

    oreront o container vessel handling, there exists

    an opportunity to use the ormer Landguard Terminal

    or installation and assembly acilities or renewable

    projects until approx 2015.

    Port o Felixstowe has already occupied a pivotal role

    in this sector, having been utilised as the installation

    base or the Kentish Flats oshore wind arm in 2005.

    Strategically located on the UKs East Coast, the Porto Felixstowe oers lock-ree unrestricted access to the

    North Sea, with no air drat restrictions, rom one o the

    countrys nest naturally protected harbours.

    The port also boasts excellent connectivity, is directly

    connected to the UKs strategic road network, has

    requent intermodal rail services and Stansted Airport is
