In 1485, the Battle of Bosworth Field took place

-Henry Tudor became the first English monarch of the Tudor Dynasty after Richard III ( last king of the House of York) was killed in the battle

Fall of Constantinople- - in 1453, the capital (Constantinople) of the Byzantine Empire was overtaken by the Ottoman Empire which was under the command of Sultan Mehmed II

-Capitalism first started to show up in Italian republics like Genoa and Venice and later in France, Germany, and England

-Capitalism is a kind of economic system in which the means of production and distribution are privately owned and there is private profit

-In 1492, there was a Spanish expedition to the Americas led by Christopher Columbus

-Eventually, the entire Western Hemisphere would come under the control of European nations

- In 1494 the French king Charles VII invaded Italy

-several important books were also written during the early modern period

-Machiavelli wrote “The Prince” (1513)

-he emphasized the need for stability in a prince’s principality

-he claimed that the greatest moral good is a virtuous and stable state

-The book describes a fictional island society and its religious, social, and political customs

-Within the book, he discusses social issues in Europe by comparing the island’s unusual political ideas to the chaotic politics of his own day

-The Elizabethan Era was from 1558- 1603 when Queen Elizabeth I reigned

-This was a “Golden Age” period for England where there was peace, harmony, stability, and prosperity
