A book on Hunters and Gatherers

Adapting to the Environment

Hunter-Gatherers lived in small groups with around 30 people which is called bands.

The early humans had to depend on natural environment for shelter such as caves, rocks, tree branches, plant fibers, or skins of animals they hunted.

Hunter-Gatherers are called Hunter-Gatherers because the men used to go around hunting for food and women used to gather fruits and vegetables they could find.

Early humans on the move

Nomads are people who move from one place to another. Hunter-Gatherers were nomads.

Groups always retuned to the same places with the season changes.

Sometimes, they also moved to new an distant lands. This act of movement is called Migration.

Migrations could have been because of people following animals to hunt.

Hunter-Gatherers had migrated throughout much of the world by the 13000 B.C. They might have travelled the bridge connecting Siberia and Alaska which means they had even entered America.

.....Still.....If a migrating group arrived in a

territory of another people could be a good or bad outcome.

Some people benefited the knowledge by other people but some people felt threatened by newcomers and turned violent because they thought the newcomers will take their territory or because they were different.
