ST. STEPHEN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH…..
HAPPY 130th ANNIVERSARY!!
Join us on Sunday, November 16 after the 11:00 a.m. worship service. A “celebratory”
lunch will be served in Parish Hall. Balloons, decorations and outdoor fun, too, will bring out
the spirit of celebrating one hundred and thirty years of worship and fellowship at St. Stephen.
We want you to “delve” into the past and send your special memories to the church office.
Memories of a spiritual moment you captured, or a fun-filled event you may have enjoyed—
maybe even a humorous moment during the “Blessing of the Animals” event one October. Are your memories of
high school fellowship sponsors, or Sunday School? Maybe the “Kirkin’ O’ the Tartan” service?
Please think back and share your fondest memories. We will collect and share these memories during the Anniversary celebra-
tion! Yes, it’s alright to remain anonymous, if you must! Get your children involved! Please start thinking back now! Take notes
and send these favorite memories of yours to Judi in the church office at: [email protected].

JC Kang's Ordination
Many of you will remember our talented, charis-
matic seminarian, JC (Jeachul) Kang, who St.
Stephen sponsored as a student for ministry at Co-
lumbia Seminary in Decatur, GA. JC is from South
Korea. He first started coming to St. Stephen while
he was a student at Southwestern Baptist Semi-
nary. He was so impressed with the church, the
warmth of its people, our open-minded faith, and
St. Stephen's inclusive, welcoming message, that
he became a Presbyterian Church (USA) convert!
A couple of years ago, JC and Jung had a baby,
Eunice, whom we baptized.
Now JC is a seminary graduate with a call to serve
as an assistant pastor at Auburn/Opelika Korean
Presbyterian Church in Alabama. He will be in
charge of Christian education. The church is lo-
cated in a community whose Korean community
has grown rapidly due to a boom in auto manufac-
turing. JC is very excited about this ministry.
JC has asked St. Stephen to host his ordination as a
Presbyterian (USA) minister this Saturday, Sept. 6,
at 3:00 in the sanctuary. This requires a commis-
sion, comprised of Grace Presbytery ministers and
elders, but you'll see a lot of familiar faces from
your own church in the leadership. I will give the
message; Ruling Elder Dian McCall will give the
"Charge to the Ordinand'; and the Rev. Beth Hes-
sel will lead the charge to the congregation.
Congratulations to JC and to St. Stephen, as we
share together the culmination of this long and
amazing relationship!
Grace and peace,
Fritz
Unaccompanied Minors
Thank you for your generosity! Once again,
St. Stephen folks come through. This past Sun-
day, we collected $4,377 to support Catholic
Charities in its mission outreach to unaccom-
panied children who have been appearing on
our border. Catholic Charities of Fort Worth
has long been a leader in dealing with immi-
gration issues for young children. The money
we collected will go toward providing for both
immediate and long-term needs, case supervi-
sion, mental health services and legal aid to
these children, most of whom are fleeing vio-
lence and poverty in their home countries.
Catholic Charities is the most effective and
well-established local organization dealing
with such immigration needs; they've been in
Fort Worth for 103 years. Your money will be
put to good use!
Additionally, Catholic Charities welcomes do-
nations for basic needs and school supplies.
Not only that, but they provide foster care op-
portunities! To learn more, visit their website
at http://www.catholiccharitiesfortworth.org/

St. Stephen Sandwich Guild
The Sandwich Guild is a group of folk who get to-
gether one Thursday morning of every month. They
form an assembly line laying out the bread, meat,
cheese, condiments and sandwich wrap. All assigned a
duty, they go to work spreading out the mustard, mayo
and filling the sandwiches with nourishment! Once
completed, Eddie Shaw delivers them to the Presbyte-
rian Night Shelter for the homeless. If interested in
observing or participating in this worthy mission, they
meet at 9:30 a.m. every 3rd Thursday of each month.
SSPC Mission for Veterans
Each Friday from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., SSPC mem-
bers participate in our outreach mission to veterans at
the new VA Outpatient Clinic at 2201 SE Loop 820
(just east of I-35 and west of Tarrant County College/
Campus Drive). Serving lemonade, coffee and cook-
ies, we enjoy the opportunity to interact with veterans
and provide a welcome diversion while they await their
appointments. In addition to two to three folks who
serve each week, volunteers are also needed to provide
baked goods. To learn more about this mission, please
visit with SSPC members who have so far participated,
including: Walt Adams, Kurt and Sue Anderson, David

SSPC Visitation Guild What Do They Do?
Monday morning around 9:30 a.m., the members of the guild
meet in the sacristy of the sanctuary to sort through Sunday’s
flowers, split them up, and turn them into several smaller arrange-
ments, placing them into vases, and decorating them with ribbon
and lots of TLC!
Then What?
There are usually 2-3 members per team, but due to some mem-
bers who have relocated or whose schedule has changed, the
teams are very “slim,” sometimes with only one or two members!
They need your help!!
After the flowers are arranged, they load them in their cars and
take them to our homebound members—those who are in hospi-
tals or rehab centers.
The Result:
Those who receive the flowers are not only happy to get the com-
pany, but have that reminder that their home church really hasn’t
forgotten about them. If you aren't able to make visits and just
want to arrange the flowers, or vice versa, that’s ok too!
What is the Length of the Visit Ten or fifteen minutes or more depending on the amount of visits
they still have to do, and the condition of the person during your
visit. Never overstay your welcome! Even a five minute visit with
a smile on your face can start someone’s day off in a positive
way!
How Do I Join This Guild?
Please call Judi in the church office at 817-927-8411 and let her
know that you are interested. She will pass the message on to one
of it’s members. Thanks to SSPC member Lynda O’Rourke, our
newest visitation guild member who plans to start the Monday
after Labor Day! The guild needs your help! Won’t you join in
on this fun and rewarding mission of fellowship?
YOU ARE INVITED!

prayer and continue with media presentations and meaning-
ful discussions. The leadership is planning several Fall Fel-
lowship opportunities for class “members” and visitors and
all who are interested. If you want to belong, this is the class
for you! It will be housed in the Bethlehem B&B Room, up-
stairs in the Education Building.
