The initiative held in Lecce was clearly intended
for the future and be instrumental in promoting
the development of a common language for
engineering matters.
It wanted to demonstrate that cooperation
policies between countries in areas full of
potential and opportunities, would be beneficial
for engineering developments in a wide range of
sectors like economics and finance as well as in
the social and cultural fields.
The model could be
welcomed in areas
bigger than the
Mediterranean basin
Africa could be the first continent where we can
replicate the model and grow it gradually from
the borders of the Mediterranean through the
Arab territories to the coasts of South Africa with
the committed patronage of engineering
organisations.
In Abuja, Nigeria, at the WECSI - World Engineering Conference on Sustainable Infrastructure - the signature of common Heads of Agreement between the Mediterranean Organisations of Engineers as a result of the general consensus on the EAMC initiative and its operative framework was presented and aroused wide interest in extending the initiative to the African continent
Federation of African Engineering Organizations (FAEO) including its following organisations: 1. WAFEO (Western Africa Federation of the Engineering Organizations) 2. SAFEO (Southern Africa Federation of the Engineering Organizations) 3. EAFEO (Eastern Africa Federation of the Engineering Organizations) 4. CAFEO (Central Africa Federation of the Engineering Organizations) And its member organisations among which: Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Benin, Republic Togo, Gambia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, Seychelles, Zambia, Malawi, Mauritius, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Cameroon, Chad, Gabon
Making EAMC known at the WECSI 2014 and
the wide acknowledgment of its strategic
valences has laid the foundation for possible
replicas stage-managed initially in the Arab
countries and later in the whole Africa.
