WHAT IS EPC?

• A conference organised by RHD students with support from

Schools/Centres within the Faculty of EAIT for RHD students

• A annual platform for RHD students to showcase:

– Oral presentations

• 10 min presentation + 5 min Q&A

• 3 Judges (Academic + Industrial)

– Poster presentations

– Accepted journal papers


WHAT IS EPC?

OBJECTIVES:

• Allow EAIT postgraduate students to present their work in front of

peers, academics and industry representatives in a conference setting

• Provide personalised feedback on your presentation skills, so you can

be an even better presenter!

• Raise awareness of overall research activities within EAIT

• Encourage networking within the Faculty of EAIT

HOW TO GET INVOLVED?

JOURNAL PAPER SUBMISSION

Eligibility:

• Be a current EAIT postgraduate student (PhD/MPhil/Masters)

• Paper must be accepted in peer reviewed journal between April 2016

– March 2017

Steps:

1. Submit your journal paper through www.eait.uq.edu.au/epc

2. Wait for confirmation in April 2017

3. Attend EAIT Postgraduate Conference on Tuesday, 6th June 2017

4. Attend the prize presentation session in the evening

Steps:

1. Write a 100-200 word abstract for your presentation

2. Submit abstract through www.eait.uq.edu.au/epc by 1st May

3. Wait for feedback and confirmation

4. Prepare your PowerPoint slides






POSTER SUBMISSION

Eligibility:


Steps:

1. Write a maximum 200 word abstract for your poster

2. Submit abstract and poster through www.eait.uq.edu.au/epc by 1st

May

3. Wait for feedback and confirmation, the 2017 EPC poster

template will be available on www.eait.uq.edu.au/epc







What is an abstract?• An overview of the work (max 200 words)

• Recommended structure:

1. Background: What is the research question you are asking?

What is the purpose of the study? (Broader context of work)

2. Methods: Brief description of main methods or treatments applied

3. Results: Summary of the main findings

4. Conclusion: Indication of main conclusions or interpretations

• 6 presentation streams occurring in parallel organised by research

theme in Hawken building

• Posters open for viewing throughout the day and afternoon poster

presentation session in AEB Building

• 3 guest speakers (opening and closing ceremony)

• Fully catered morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea

• Prize presentations

• Post-event networking and dinner!
