attention “snowbirds”Hope you enjoyed your summer with us and stopped in at aerie 3702. Please remember to contact the office with your winter ad-dress when returning to warm weather for extended stays!New twist on
former Auxiliary Deer Widows all-day event The Bake Sale will be most of the day starting at 9 a.m. as usual with Carol Hammond heading it up. If you can bake something or donate to the cause mon-etarily, please give her a call at (810) 984-3055. We have a new name for the day long event. It will be called the Mixed Up Wild & Crazy Auction with a Bake Sale. You will have a chance to bid on items all day long. Nice items you can see in a Silent Auction and the crazy mixed up part will be the brown bags with something nice inside that you can not see and four will have a $50 bill inside. That will be part of a Chinese Auction. At 6 p.m. we will start with drawings of tickets to see who wins the brown bags and also who are the final bidders on the silent auction items. Should be great fun. At 1 p.m. in the afternoon the Bag Lady will be making her final retire-ment appearance selling her famous $1 bags. If you have items to donate for the silent auction, brown bag auction or Bag Lady, bring them to the club by October 28th. No junk please, slightly used or new preferred. See page 8 inside.

Wow! This has been a fast four months. I hope everyone enjoyed their summer. The Aerie has seen some changes and we are still working some of the bugs out so please continue to be patient. If you see an issue, please let me know so it can be fixed. I would like to send a big THANk YOU to Robert and Steve for chairing the family picnic as well as everyone that donated their time or money to make it a success. It looks like the next few months are going to be busy so check the calendar for all the ex-citing events. We also are starting our own progressive raffle, called the “Gold-en Eagle”. Check out the details in this newsletter on page 10. Please remember we are an organization based on “People Helping People”, so come on out and support our events which enable us to help other people.
Larry Warren, Worthy President
Aerie and AuxiliaryBy-laws revisions
The Aerie will have its third and final reading of its by-laws and house rules at the Tuesday, October 3rd regular meeting. We will have discus-sion and voting at that time. Meet-ings start at 7:00 pm. The Auxiliary By-laws are being opened and revised. If you have a question and/or revision to submit, please attend the Auxiliary meeting. The first reading was held on Sep-tember 27, 2017. A second reading will be held on October 11, 2017, with the final reading and vote to be held on October 25, 2017.
tron listing. This mean your $10.00 has been, is or will be due before the next January newsletter. There are a lot of them. Please send in $10.00 made out to F.O.E. Aerie 3702 and specify in the memo that it is for the Gazette patron-age listing in the newsletter. Thanks for your continued support. There is a handy coupon on page 6 as well. If you would like to become a patron, please fill out coupon and send it in along with your $10.00 to the Aerie. If by chance you have already paid, please notify Herb Hill’s office and let them know as a few may have been missed with the new officer changeover.
-NOTICE- If you have recently paid your yearly dues, please don’t forget to pick up your new membership card from the bartenders in the Social room. there is beginning to be quite a few!
As the riding season comes to a close, I want to thank everyone for a very suc-cessful summer. We as a group donat-ed a total of $3,400.00 to our charities: Friday Food for kids Program, Hunter House and Pets for Vets Organization. We presented a check for $1,300.00 at our Sunday, September 10th meeting to a representative of Pets for Vets. She had also brought along a vet who intro-duced his pet dog Emily that he has had for 3 years. He stated that Emily was the best pet he has ever had and that she has helped him to get his life back into control. He had served in Afghanas-tan. I want to remind everyone to ride safe this Fall and enjoy the rest of the sea-son. Reminder....you can join the Blue Wa-ter Eagle Riders if you are a paid up Auxiliary or Aerie member. The cost is$15.00 per year. Applications are available on top of the Rid-er display case on the north wall in the Social Room. The next Rider meeting will be Sunday, October 1 at 12 noon. Mike Mellick, Rider President
WOW..what a busy summer and “BOY” did it fly by! A big THANK YOU to all the volunteers for a wonderful family picnic, whiffle ball tourney, golf/shoe outing and Rider Games Day...all made possible by our awesome volun-teers. If you weren’t lucky enough to en-joy any of those events, there are plenty upcoming this Fall and winter including a Mixed Up Crazy & Wild Auction (for-merly Deer Widows Party), our “BIG” Anniversary Party, shopping/wrapping gifts for the Children’s Christmas Party, packing needy food baskets and more. Read this newsletter from cover to cover to see what’s happening! We are also reestablishing the Funeral Luncheon Committee for our members and their immediate family members. If you would like to volunteer, please con-tact me or Carol Hammond for details. Win some choice meat at our Auxil-
iary Meat Wheel Raffle Oc-tober 7 and December 9 at 6 p.m. None in November. Hope to see you there!Lori Anderson, Madam President

OPening the dOOr fOr Other members Or guests: We are again reminding ALL members dO nOt OPen the dOOr fOr Others. There are valid reasons for this policy: I) The bartender on duty can ensure guests are signed in (In compliance with MLCC laws). 2) The person entering is not de-linquent in dues, or a dropped member. 3) The person ringing the doorbell may need to see an officer of the Aerie. We do understand that you may just be trying to help if you are sitting close to the door but it is the job of an employee to buzz the person(s) in.

The form must be turned in by the deadline, Absolutely NO EXCEPTIONS will be made.Distribution of Food Baskets: All baskets will be delivered this year. NO PICK UPS at the Aerie. If you submit a name for a basket, the basket will be de-livered by the Delivery Committee Volunteers, not yourself. Family picnic has great turnout There was a great turnout for the annual Family Picnic held on Saturday, August 19th. First-time picnic organizers Rob Spencer and Steve Lindsay did a terrific job. Checking in at the gate were 132 members, 53 guests which were adult kids of members and parents of members plus 117 kids 12 and under. New this year was pony rides and “Mader” the tow truck towing several cars around the yard for kids to ride in. Both things were very popular with all the kids, especially the younger ones. The food was really terrific and we thank Deb Wagg and Hezekiah Miller for the cooking of hot dogs, burgers and chicken. Yummy! Winners of the 2 bikes and Hot Wheels for toddlers were: girls Big Wheel age 3 and under - Adelyn Todd; boys Big Wheel 3 and under - Armanai Valdez; girl’s bike - Justine Loxton and boy’s bike - Ryan Lee. The bike’s were donated by Tim Brooks of the ACM Company and the Big Wheels were donated by the Ladies Auxiliary. There were other raffles of the day that included a grill, solar light, gift basket and beer stein. It could not have been a more perfect day weather wise. You could not have put in an order for how great the day was. Everyone that attended had a great time. If you have never attended one of these events, you should be sure and do so next year!
