Eagle Plan Wear Surface Self-Leveling Topping Compound Description EAGLE PLAN is a fast-curing, polymer modified, cementitious self-leveling mortar that allows smoothing and leveling of interior wood and concrete floors rapidly with less work. This mortar can be used as a wear surface but also as an underlayment at thickness varying from 2 mm to 25 mm (1/8” to 1”). This compound allows smooth surfaces for installation of carpet, ceramic tiles, natural stone, hardwood, vinyl tiles and resilient floor covering. This self-leveling product can also be used over a low temperature radiant heating system installed on floors. Surface Preparation All surfaces to be covered shall be structurally sound, clean and free from traces of dust, oil, grease, wax, paint, curing agent, coatings and loose particles. They must also be exempt from any trace or presence of acids, concentrated alkalis, chemical cleaning agent or any other material that can reduce adhesion. All concrete substrates shall be completely cured and at least 28 days old. It must be roughened for more adhesion and to remove completely all traces of paint, coating, loosely bonded toppings, loose particles and construction debris. If concrete is too dry and porous, saturate concrete surface with clean water within few hours before repairs leaving no excess water and apply mortar when surface is dry again. Use of Eagle Prime Plus as primer is a good alternative to concrete water saturation. Wood floors should be composed of new exterior grade plywood, used only in interior dry floors. Plywood should be supported by joists spaced every 40 cm (16”), the substrate consisting of two plywood sheets of 16mm (5/8”) thick each superposed cross-directionally, while allowing a minimum of 3 mm (1/8”) spacing between them and screwed at intervals of 15 cm (6”) around the perimeter and 20 cm (8”) centrally. Maximum deflection should not exceed 1/360 of span. When using a self-leveling product over a radiant heating system, it is necessary to turn off 24 hours prior to installation and wait a week before turning it back on. Ambient, surface and product temperature must be superior than 10ºC (50ºF) and lower than 35ºC (95ºF) before the installation and for the first 24 hours. Mixing In a clean container, pour exactly 4.77 litres of fresh clean water and gradually add 22.7 kg of Eagle Plan powder while mixing with a low-speed drill and a mixer. Blend for 2 to 3 minutes scraping recipient walls and paddle to obtain a homogeneous malleable and lump-free consistency is achieved. Slake for 5 minutes and mix again for 1 minute. Apply immediately. Clean working tools and hands with water while product is still fresh.
