Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ:

Every year, throughout the Diocese of Amarillo, hundreds of thousands of men, women and children learn what it means to be disciples of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

As disciples, we are formed in faith in our homes, our parishes, our Catholic schools, through Scripture

and through liturgy, especially in the celebration of Eucharist. We learn that faith is our response to God’s love, and that we are called to take our faith out into the world and live it by sharing it.

Pope Francis encourages us to “rediscover the richness encompassed by the spiritual and corporal works of mercy,” making God’s love visible and tangible for God’s people on earth through these charitable acts in which we come to the aid of the whole person, body and spirit.

e 2017/2018 theme of the annual United Catholic Appeal, “Mercy is Faith working through Love,” is both a reminder and an opportunity to put our faith in action. rough our support of the annual appeal, which makes the many and varied ministries of the Diocese of Amarillo possible, you help bring life the spiritual and corporal works of mercy in our parishes and in our diocese. I ask you to prayerfully consider a gift to the annual United Catholic Appeal, so that, as Church, we may continue to share the mercy of God which has been revealed to us through the words and actions of Jesus Christ.

May God bless each of you,

Most Reverend Patrick J. Zurek, STL, DDBishop of Amarillo

Mercy Faith Love

Reverendísimo Patrick J. Zurek, STL, DDObispo de Amarillo Diocese of Amarillo | P.O. Box 5644 | Amarillo, Texas 79117-5644
