The Brackish Water Treatment series of equipment was specifically designed and built to help ranchers and farmers in the drought-plagued areas of the United States gain access to the seas of brackish water under their land. This equipment creates reusable water for crops and livestock that exceeds EPA minimum standards for agricultural discharge.

THE PROBLEM: BRACKISH WATERBrackish water is water that has more salinity than fresh water, but less than sea water. Since brackish water is hostile to most plant species, appropriate steps must be taken to reduce its damage on the environment.

Seawater usually contains a higher salt content – about 35,000 ppm – as compared to 10,000 ppm or less for brackish water. Increased salt content increases the specific gravity, thus adding to the potential for suspended sediments. Thus, brackish water covers a range of salinity regimes and is not considered a precisely defined condition.

For the past five years, many areas of the United States have effectively been in a constant state of drought. However, hundreds of trillions (approximately 880 trillion) of gallons of brackish water are estimated to lie underneath Texas and even more in California. Significant amounts of brackish groundwater exist all around the country.
