Arijana Omanovic is a 2018 graduate of Waterloo West High School. She is daughter of Osman and Ramija Omanovic. Arijana has been an honor roll student her entire high school career, maintaining a 3.95 GPA while being involved in numerous activities and advanced placement classes. Throughout high school Arijana participated in Varsity Tennis, Basketball, the National
Honor Society, and TRIO Educational Talent Search. She has spent time volunteering at both Allen College and with the JDRF One Walk, which is held locally in Waterloo.
Outside of school Arijana enjoys playing tennis, traveling, volunteering, and going for hikes and exploring the outdoors.
Arijana’s favorite Sturgis Falls memory was a time she came with her dad and cousin when she was a little girl. They had done well in school, so they were rewarded with a good time. They had the time of their lives. The atmosphere, the community, the delicious food, everything all together, was an experience she’ll never forget.
Next fall, Arijana plans to attend the University of Northern Iowa to major in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She plans to then continue with her masters in Speech-Language Pathology.
Jonathan Corrigan, known as Nathan to many, is the son of Dan and Stacy Corrigan, older brother to Matthew, and will proudly be graduating from Columbus Catholic High School in May of 2018.
As an Honor Roll student, Jonathan maintains a high GPA in his high school courses and a 4.0 in the courses he has taken at Hawkeye Community College, through the Dual Enrollment Program, preparing him for entry into the University of Iowa where
he will major in Biochemistry in the Pre-Medicine Track. A great number of personal experiences have led him to a career path where he wants to help people. He ultimately aspires to become an Anesthesiologist.
In school Jonathan has been active in Student Government and a member of the Columbus Sailors Football and Track teams. Outside of school he enjoys a variety of sports including swimming, fishing, kayaking and skiing.
Jonathan is also no stranger to the Sturgis Falls Celebration. He has been an active member of Troop 500 for many years and has spent many weekends helping clean up after park patrons. He achieved his Eagle Scout Award with a very successful Community Project that helped restore the Orchard Hill Park Shelter thanks to the support of the Cedar Falls Parks and Recreation Department.
Although he’s spent a lot of time backstage cleaning up, he has fond memories of attending the Sturgis Falls Celebration Annual Parade and thinks that is one of the highlights of the weekend. Shining a light on many local organizations and the hard work and commitment that they provide for our community.
