e-Philanthropy Fundraising Kit Online Fundraising Our fundraising technology allows supporters to create and customize their own fundraising web page and collect online donations from their friends and family.
http://give.rchsd.org/miraclemakers
We provide:
Personal fundraising pages for teams or individuals Patient stories and photos Sample email templates Reports showing who has donated and/or viewed fundraising pages Processing of all online donations Email thank you letter and receipt for online donors Snail mail thank you letter and receipt for offline donors
You can: Join as an individual: Choose this option if you want to fundraise on your own, not in
association with others. You will have your own personal fundraising page and will be able to collect online donations from friends and family.
Start a Team: Choose this option if you are participating in a group activity that involves a team or group of people. By starting a team, you will become the Team Captain and can create a team name that represents your group. Other individuals have the option to join the team that you start. This is great for activities where teams compete against each other. Fundraising is done by each individual through their own fundraising page.
Join a Team: Choose this option if you want to join an existing team. You will become a team member and receive a personal fundraising page that is linked to your team name with access to the team page.
We’re here to help – if you have any questions, contact the Foundation office at 858-966-5988.
e-Philanthropy Fundraising Checklist
Create Your Personal Fundraising Page Go to http://give.rchsd.org/miraclemakers Decide if you want to start a team and recruit others to join you in your fundraising
efforts, or if you want to create an individual page and fundraise on your own Share your own story or use one of our templates Set a fundraising goal
It is a good idea to set a small goal in the first year and allow your event/campaign to grow in future years
Create a timeline Create a promotion plan
Promote your event/campaign to friends, family, co-workers, neighbors Contact your development officer to assist with promotion to Rady Children’s
Hospital employees, adding to the Foundation website calendar and monthly eNewsletter
Use features on your fundraising page to promote using social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest)
Promote on your company website with links to your donation page Ask your employer about matching gifts Distribute event flyers and/or invitations
During Your Campaign
Send email messages to your friends, family and colleagues asking them to support your fundraising efforts
Use our sample email templates or create your own messages Due to tighter email security settings, some emails go into junk email boxes
rather than your recipients’ inboxes. If you find this is a problem, you can send the email to yourself, then forward to your friends from your account. This way, your contacts will still receive your email with your website link
Post updates on your Facebook page Include a link to your fundraising page
Send tweets about your fundraising efforts Include a link to your fundraising page
Send daily/weekly follow up messages Add offline donations to your website as “pledges” Send updates about your progress
“I’m only $100 away from my goal…” Use photos and videos
Tag your friends to encourage their support Remind your potential donors that they can download a printable donation form from
the website (under Donate > Printable Donation Form) and mail their donation if they don’t want to donate online
For a tax receipt, checks must be made payable to Rady Children’s Hospital Thank your donors!
Post-Event/Campaign Wrap-Up
Close out accounting and submit all cash/donations that were not made online to Rady Children’s Hospital
Submit a list of donors and donations that were not made online to your development officer so that Rady Children’s can send an acknowledgement letter and tax receipt recognizing their contribution
Re-cap meeting with event/campaign committee and/or development officer to debrief and plan for next year
Contact your development officer to schedule a check presentation and hospital tour
