Cygnet’s SolutionA smart vision expert- a virtual eye checkup application used as an alternative to traditional instruments for eye checkup. An application created to test against 20/20 benchmark vision which follows a series of optical tests with integrated charts to gauge the vision. According to the requirements, Cygnet offered an iOS based application which provided round the clock access through iPhones and iPads. The tests could be performed by placing the mobile/tablet at a distance of 1 foot as the application is keyboard-less. The series of tests included in the application could be defined as:
Visual Acuity Test: The test determines the smallest letter you read on a standardized Sellen Chart. The check continues till you get the correct answer and as soon as there is a mismatch, the test will end and the result will be saved.
If a person cannot achieve a visual acuity of 20/200 even with the best possible glasses, then that person is considered as blind.
The person is said to see the details from 20 feet away the same as a person with normal eyesight would see it from 40 feet away if he has a visual acuity of 20/40.
The person with 20/20 visual acuity is considered to have a normal eyesight.

Color Vision Deficiency: Due to color-blindness, certain complementary colors could be invisible to certain people. The Psuedoisochromatic Plate Testing is a series of color spot pictures symbolizing a number, selecting the number visible in the options section. Through this test one can determine the type of color deficiency the patient persists. The results get saved for your ophthalmologist.

Amsler’s Grid Check: The grid with white background and black horizontal and vertical lines has a dot in the center which needs to be focused alternately with both eyes. Any turbulences in lines are caused due to the damage in the central retina region or optic nerve. It is important to report to the ophthalmologist if there are any irregularities in the grid.
Contrast Sensitivity Check: Contrast Sensitivity identifies the sensitivity and the ability to see objects in terms of contrast and sizes. A high contrast eye chart with jet black letters slowly merging in the white background with each level will be displayed. The check continues till you select two consecutive wrong answers. To test the ability to see objects in terms of contrast and size.
Reminder Alerts: A reminder could be set during the medication time for the patient to have their medicine and take short break for relaxing eyes after every rest time interval. It displays a blank screen enforcing rest for some time. User can enable and disable rest enforcement as needed.
Eye Movement Check: In this exercise, the ball rolls around a plane panel-horizontally, vertically, in circles allowing the eyes to follow the movements, checking the pursuit and saccades eye movement. This exercise is practiced to strengthen the eye muscles and stimulate the vision.
