Keel Boat & Trailable News

Chippa’s Chirp...

What a great spring day Sunday’s race was, sun was out and again eight boats

that ventured out enjoyed the on water start and nicely set course thanks to

Geoff (RO), Glen, Ross, Sandy (Assistant RO), Rob and Roy in the tower.

We started in 12 knots and the starters took my advice from last week and set a

slightly favoured pin (keeping most of the fleet away from the boat end), with

fleet splitting left and right, front runners finding some breeze in the middle to left

side on the first work. As expected After Midnight jumped out in front with Rouge

and Garisenda, the run saw Calypso and Razors Edge get back in the game while

yours truly bringing up the rear.

Calypso did better and got back into the top 3 on the second beat, After Midnight

cleared out from Calypso and Razors Edge, wind really dropping out now to

5 knots gave Razors Edge a nice advantage moving into second, last work saw

sometimes less than 5 knots.

Joker moved out of the wooden spoon with the help from the Code 0 and some

more breeze on left side of course, Gadget having trouble getting steering and

doing circles in about 3 knots at top mark , by then the front runners were almost

finishing.

Well done to PHD results – Razors Edge 1st, Calypso 2nd After Midnight 3rd.

Next week hope to see a few more out, spread the news and break out those

shorts… t will be over 20 degrees!!

Glen, Ross, Geoff, Sandy, Rob and the team said they had so much fun they

committed to running the rest of the series (thank you).

So If rostered on for the spring series you can now just come racing.
