E-NEWSLETTER OF MAHESHTALA MUNICIPALITY FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER, 2016
1. Activities under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna - Housing for all (Urban):
Beneficiary list of 309 for construction of house with 25-37 Sqm carpet area at a cost of
Rs. 3,68,000/- for the 2015-16 financial year has been finalized.
Funding pattern under Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) component:
Contribution of Beneficiary Rs. 25,000/- Contribution of Government of India Rs 1,50,000/- Contribution of Government of West Bengal Rs. 1,93000/-
Side by side construction of house by the beneficiaries themselves there is a provision of
physical infrastructure development of the town at Rs. 36,000/- per beneficiary.
Funding pattern:
Government of West Bengal Rs. 18,000/- Maheshtala Municipality Rs. 18,000/- Total fund for 309 beneficiaries 1,11,24,000/- State Government Share Rs. 55,62,000/- Maheshtala Municipality share Rs. 55,62,000/-

2. Activities under ATAL MISSION FOR REJUVENATION AND URBAN TRANSFORMATION (AMRUT)
a. Development of parks for 2015-16 fiscal year already started at Akra Saktigarh under Ward 7 at a tendered cost of Rs. 3272261.00 and at Taltala Colony at a tendered cost of
Rs. 1435665.81.
This is bold step on the part of Maheshtala Municipality shall increase greenery to
achieve the benchmark of per person open space from 7.20 Sqm. to 10.00 Sqm. through
greenery development, play equipments for children, manicured with fountains, sitting
benches, tree plantation.

b. We have got technical sanction of our DPR (Detailed Project Report) for
sewerage scheme in phases I in Ward no
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10 at a cost of Rs. 100
Crore.
After getting final sanction from State High
Powered Committee the KMDA will take
appropriate steps for implementation of the
Scheme.
3. Activities under HUP (Housing for Urban Poor)
It is a Government of West Bengal initiative to provide monetary support to low income
group families for construction of their own house at a cost of Rs. 2,29,000/- as granted by
the State Government.
Names of 49 Beneficiaries have been recommended by the Board of Councilors at its
meeting held on 30/11/2016 for sanction by the State Government

4. Activities under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission: WBSULM (West Bengal Urban Livelihood Mission):
4 Self Help Groups (SHGs) have been formed and group account opened in the respective bank branches. Fifteen more groups have been formed but account not yet opened as

Banks are busy with demonetization work. One time revolving fund of ten thousand
rupees are awarded to six groups who have completed six months.
Skill trainings in various trades, like Computer, Spoken English, Beautician etc. are going on.
City Livelihood Centre (CLC) aims to support Urban Poor by providing them one stop solution to market their products and services and also can access information and other
benefits. Proposed CLC of Maheshtala Municipality has been approved by SUDA and the
centre will be opened at old Municipality building very soon. An orientation session on
CLC was organized in BoC meeting dated 17/11/2016. Citizens of Maheshtala will very
soon get service for various household jobs (electric, plumbing, driver etc.) from CLC.
Three days training programme of City Mission Managers were organized by SUDA from 24 to 26 November 2016.
City Mission Managers of Maheshtala have been given responsibility to build Capacity of six other Municipalities. Baruipur Municipality is one of them. A capacity building training
was facilitated for the councilors and bankers of the municipality on November 09.
5. Remarkable activities under NUHM (National Urban Health Mission):
Eight general health check up
camps were organized on 11, 15, 18,
19, 21, 22, 25, 28 November. Special
outreach camps for senior citizens
were arranged to improve quality of
life up to an extent. Six camps were
organized on 12, 16, 24, 26, 27 and 28
November 2016. Total 567
community people
attended general health
camps and 254 elderly
people attended
geriatric camps. Apart
from regular check up

and advice free medicines were given as per requirement. Camps were led by the
Doctors and assisted by Nurses.
