The development of electric vehicles (EV) is shift ing the way people and goods move around, with far-reaching implicati ons for UK energy infrastructure.

Emerging technological innovati ons, rising customer expectati ons alongside Government ambiti ons, set out in Road to Zero to see at least half of all new cars and vans to be ultra-low emission by 2030, are having major implicati ons for the electrical power supply industry.

The rate of EV adopti on is highly dependent on the rollout of charging infrastructure and will require an increasingly large and powerful network to provide reliable and convenient charging.

The Renewable Energy View 2018 (REview 2018) showed that renewable energy generati on reached an all-ti me high in 2018, accounti ng for nearly 30% of UK electricity. Clean technology is criti cal to the ongoing campaign for decarbonisati on and sustainability.

A renaissance is taking place in the nuclear industry. Nuclear power plays an integral part in the UK’s diverse energy generati on mix, providing a reliable source of low carbon power that can be produced safely, on a large-scale to meet decarbonisati on targets under the Climate Change Act 2008.

Against a backdrop of increased legislati on, an upsurge in demand, diversifi ed competi ti on and the decommission of ageing nuclear reactors - ambiti ous proposals, outlined in the Nuclear Sector Deal, will ensure nuclear energy conti nues to power the UK for years to come.
