Getting qualified

To become an ACCA member, you must meet the eligibility requirements which include passing exams in 14 subjects (exemptions from some subjects are available for relevant degrees), completion of an ethics module, and gaining 36 months of relevant work experience.

The ACCA exams are divided into two levels: Fundamental and Professional

• Fundamental Levels F1 to F4 are computer based exams and can be taken throughout the year. F5-F9 are computer and paper based exams. For all parts, excluding F1-F4, there are 4 examination sessions each year in March, June, September and December

• The pass mark for all papers is 50%• Exams consist of a mixture of MCQ,

OT and written questions• Upon completing the Knowledge module,

students will be awarded the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business

• The Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business is awarded upon successful completion of the Skills modules. At this point students are eligible to study for the Oxfords Brookes Bachelor’s degree in Applied Accounting

• Students will be eligible for ACCA membership upon completion of the professional level exams which is equivalent to a Master’s degree in the level of ability demonstrated.

Minimum entry requirements1. Two A-levels and three GCSEs

(or their equivalent)2. These need to be in five separate subjects

including English and Math’sIf you don’t meet the minimum entry requirements you can still join ACCA to study accounting as a student, but you will need to start your studies with the foundation levels F1, F2 and F3

How long does it take?The pace at which you study for your ACCA is very flexible. But there is a ten year time limit to complete the exams which starts from the date of your initial registration.

You can choose how you study, how often you sit your exams and where you get your relevant practical experience. You can choose from a variety of different study options including:• Full time courses• Part time day or evening courses• Revision coursesFull time students typically complete their studies in 1.5-2 years and part time students in 3-3.5 years. Getting a BSC in Applied Accounting ACCA and Oxford Brookes University have worked together to develop a BSc (Hons) Degree in Applied Accounting, which is available exclusively to ACCA students who wish to obtain a degree while studying towards the ACCA

qualification. PwC’s Academy provides mentoring sessions throughout the ACCA programme for students who wish to pursue the degree.

the examiner’s requirements.

Question Based RevisionACCA Question Based Revision day consists of solving questions under exam conditions.

This is marked and returned to students with a complete debrief on the examiners

on the examiner’s expectations, model answers, and tips to pass the exam.

Lecturer profiles

Waleed Minhas ACCA

Waleed is a faculty member at PwC’s Academy. He has over seven years of industry and training experience. He has trained hundreds of students for various professional qualifications, including ACCA and CMA, and on several financial management courses. Waleed’s experience in UK and UAE gives him hands on industry experience, which he incorporates in his teachings as real life examples, linking theoretical aspects to the practical world.

Daniyal Tanveer ACCA, ACA (ICAEW)

Daniyal is a faculty member at PwC’s Academy and has over seven years of training experience. He is a motivated finance professional and a specialist lecturer for ACCA subjects including financial accounting and reporting, management accounting and tax. He is a versatile trainer and is also responsible for delivering tailor made programmes targeted at training corporate clients on financial skills such as financial statement analysis and finance for non-finance professionals.

Jenny Plumtree ACA (ICAEW), BSc.

Jenny is an experienced lecturer, and senior manager in PwC’s Academy with over 10 years’ experience in professional qualification training. Jenny’s training experience is split between the UK and Middle East; working in the UK (London) for seven years and specialising in professional examination training in UK Taxation (ICAEW, ACCA, AAT, CIMA) and Case Study (ICAEW) before moving to the Middle East and continuing to deliver taxation courses for both the ICAEW and ACCA qualifications.

Chris Cain ACCA, ACG, NLP

Chris is a director at PwC’s Academy. Chris joined the Accountancy Department in the largest ACCA public sector college in the UK over 25 years ago. His first private sector lecturing work was at Reed Business School before setting up his own ACCA college in 1990 in Birmingham. Chris’s college became the fastest growing ACCA college because of the unique exam and memory technique approaches developed by Chris and the exceptional pass rates achieved by his students. He has also written the syllabus for the ACCA on Business Planning and Strategy.

Uditi Shah ACA

Uditi is a faculty member of PwC’s Academy. Her areas of expertise include taxation and law. She has trained hundreds of students in various professional qualifications and has taught subjects relating to direct taxation, indirect taxation, business and corporate law. At PwC’s Academy, she teaches the ACCA and ASC qualifications.

Mary Borromeo CPA

Mary is a Senior Manager at PwC’s Academy. Her areas of expertise include Financial Accounting and Reporting and Audit and Assurance. Mary is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a specialist lecturer for ACCA and CPA courses. Over a span of 6 years, Mary has delivered numerous trainings in assurance to several hundred candidates including external auditors and has also been actively involved in training PwC staff as a part of their learning and development.

Huzefa Hydrie ACCA

Huzefa is a faculty member at PwC’s Academy. His areas of expertise include cash flow management, IFRS, Project Feasibilities, Budgeting & Forecasting, Management Accounting, Assets Management and Business & Financial Analysis. Huzefa is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA-UK) with a Bachelors in Commerce. He is also pursuing the Chartered Institute of Management Accountant’s (CIMA-UK) qualification and is currently a finalist. He has over three years of progressive experience in the accounting and finance industry and has taught various subjects for the ACCA, FIA and CMA qualifications.

Dr. Constantine Kritsis APBM, MA, BA

Dr. Constantine is a consultant and faculty member at PwC’s Academy. His areas of expertise include strategy, business acumen, human resources, corporate governance, business ethics and strategic leadership. He has extensive experience in education and professional training and development. He has delivered over 7,000 hours of professional training over the past 15 years. Within his specialist areas he has taught ACCA, CIMA, Diploma in IFRS and CIA professional qualifications and a number of MBA programmes within highly reputable Universities.
