ENJOY CHURCH

VISION STATEMENT To be a large, strategic, Christian church full of life and hope.

MISSION STATEMENT

Through evangelism and discipleship, to lead people closer to Jesus Christ, bringing about real spiritual change, benefiting the lives and families of our

church, community and beyond.

VALUES Relationship / Integrity / Commitment / Excellence / Vision / Faith / Life

CULTURAL STATEMENTS

No One Stands Alone

This statement isn’t just for in the foyer, but for during the week, ministry and life.

Do Something You don’t need a gift to do something, just a willingness, a desire, a conviction. Ecclesiastes 9:10 - “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.”

My Heart, My Responsibility

Guard your heart, tend your heart, keep your heart, for everything in and around your life is going to flow from your heart.

Proverbs 4:23 - “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”

Purpose Over Preference To seek and save the lost.

Luke 19:10 - “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

How Awesome Is This Place! The Church, Enjoy Church, is to be a place of salvation, healings and miracles. Genesis 28:17 - “He was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is

none other than the house of God, this is the gate of heaven.”

The Issue Is Rarely The Issue Speak the truth in love

SMILING FACES

Whether it's a banner image for your website, a promotion for an upcoming baptism or welcome slides, we have a story to tell and we need to communicate clearly with our guests. Let's get out there and take photos of people in our community smiling, laughing, chatting over coffee and enjoying church. Let's capture what being in a community at Enjoy Church looks like! People are designed for relationship and will respond far better to the smiling faces of people at our church than to a picture of our church building. Remember to smile, and wave while you're out there shooting as smiles are contagious! PRACTICAL TIPS ➢ Observe the room and be aware of your surroundings. ➢ Candid moments are always the best. Wait for the moment. ➢ Ask a group of people to quickly snap a group photo – smile! ➢ Foyer shots are a great opportunity for smiling faces. ➢ Meeting and greet moments inside the service and post-service connections (hugs, smiles, laughter)

TEAM BUILDING

You can always achieve more with a team than you can as an individual. It's a great way to build community, give people a chance to serve and explore their creative gifts. Plus, more photographers mean that instead of just 'adding' to the Enjoy photo collection, you'll be multiplying it. TIPS FOR CREATING A PHOTOGRAPHY TEAM

• Invest into gear Invest into some affordable gear and get started • Find passionate people Find people who have a passion for photography • #wearebettertogether Create a culture that celebrates teach others images. Gather the whole team often and honour the unseen time and effort.

• Bring young people and more mature people on board Exclude no one and no age. We can all learn from each other. • Vision & Culture Instill the culture and vision of Enjoy Church to your team

PHOTOGRAPHERS: WHAT TO DO AND NOT TO DO ✔ Wear all black ✔ Have your shutter mode set to 'silent continuous' ✔ Ensure all your batteries are charged! ✔ Label your gear ✔ Correctly set the time on your camera to local time ❌ Don't use flash during services ❌ No shooting during altar calls

KEEP IT INTERESTING! Always stay on the lookout for the action. Try to take photos from unusual angles and points of view that the general public don't often get to see. (Crouch down, stand up on stage or hold your camera up high). Try to frame the shot so there is another person/object in front or behind in the frame. With a DSLR, if you use an aperture of f/2.8 or wider you can get the great blurred look on the foreground/background items. Colour grading your photos is a good way to dramatically improve how interesting your photos look. The trick is to be subtle and not overdo it. For Enjoy Church images, the general rule is to reduce the effect by 50% to make sure the image is not 'overcooked'. APPS AND TOOLS TO CHECK OUT WHEN COLOUR GRADING ➢ VSCO Presets/VSCOCam Every wedding photographers secret toolkit. Easy to navigate. ➢ Adobe Lightroom A bit more complex but offers more ability to colour correct than VSCOCam.

EDITING & FLOW

You can easily take hundreds of photos during services and conferences, but the key is to have a great library that is quality not quantity. Be ruthless and intentional. Only upload your best photos. This means you don't waste time grading or editing average photos. It keeps your albums looking amazing and makes it much easier to find great photos later.

TIPS FOR EDITING ➢ Set a limit for 30 images per photographer each event Have each photographer cull their own images before handing over to the editor. ➢ Be ruthless If you have to ask 'is this a good photo' and you're not certain that it is – don't use it. ➢ Consistency is key Create your own preset to keep grading consistently across all images. ➢ Practice makes perfect The more you edit, the more you improve. ➢ Upload images quickly Aim to have the images edited and uploaded no later than 1 hour after the service.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT WHEN SHOOTING

➢ CAPTURE PEOPLE’S EXPERIENCE/ PERSPECTIVE Think about the people attending, what do they experience on a Sunday, try to capture all possible perspectives. Think about what a new person would be seeing on a sunday, what someone serving backstage or in the cafe would be seeing on a sunday.

➢ PHOTOS AS REMINDERS & INVITATIONS Photos can act as either a reminder or an invitation. A reminder of what someone has experienced (whether that’s in worship with God, in fellowship with people, in serving) or an invitation to come to church, to join in on the friendship, the teams, the worship. Think of these two things when you are shooting, create images that spark memories, or act as invitations for those who may have never been to church.

➢ THINK OF THE DETAILS Get creative. Think about the details, the process, all the things that are involved. ➢ SOCIAL MEDIA CROPS/ RATIOS For social media, our photos are cropped square or portrait mode. So think about shooting portrait mode or simply taking one step back to make sure there is room in the frame for it to be cropped later in post production. ➢ SETTINGS Make sure you’ve got your settings adjusted accordingly. There is nothing worse than thinking you’ve got that amazing shot to then realise it was blurry/ over exposed (reference next page for settings basics)

Page 10: E N J O Y C H U R C H · Proverbs 4:23 - “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” Purpose Over Preference To seek and save the lost. Luke 19:10 -

➢ APERTURE A low F stop (F1.4) will give you a brighter photo, with one object very sharp & in focus, with a blurry background. (perfect for portraits) A high F stop (F8) will give you a darker photo with everything in the photo in focus (perfect for group shots/ crowd shots) ➢ SHUTTER SPEED A low shutter speed (1/50) will brighten your photo but will be a slower shutter & likely to make photos blurry (perfect for capturing still objects/ subjects) A high shutter speed (1/200) will darken your photo but will be faster shutter & will be able to capture moving subjects (perfect for capturing people jumping in praise pit or moving subjects)

➢ ISO ISO is artificial light, similar to editing brightness in post production. A high ISO will brighten your photo significantly. Side effects of a high ISO is grain + oversaturation. We recommend that you never go past 6400 on ISO
