FBC Deacon Nominations Dear Church, I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for this weekend. Yes, we have an extended holiday with Labor Day on Monday. However, I am more excited about Saturday. Why? It is the kickoff of the college football season. At ten o’ clock on Saturday morning, I will turn the television to ESPN and watch Kirk Herbstreet, Lee Corso, and the rest of the crew break down all the games that will take place later in the day. Undoubtedly, there will be a few hours on Saturday afternoon where I will sit in front of the television cheering on my favorite teams. Of course, I will be pulling for the boys playing “between the Hedges,” although they won’t be the only team I root for on Saturday. Whether it is Clemson, South Carolina, or, really, any team in the SEC, I can’t wait for the beginning of my favorite sports season of the year. I don’t want to press this analogy too far, but sometimes I wonder what my faith would be if I brought the same passion to Jesus as I did to college football? I LOVE to talk about college football games. Do I have the same passion when I talk to people about Jesus, who I confess to be Lord over all Creation? I know the names of backup quarterbacks for multiple teams. Do I give the same amount of energy to knowing the story of Elijah from the Book that we believe can lead us to life? My heart pounds out of my chest when it’s fourth and one and a team decides to go for it rather than punt. Do I feel the same excitement when I come to worship on Sunday morning? I could go on but I think you get my point. What do you love? What gets your blood pumping? Having passion is part of what makes life wonderful. My question for you this week is simple - What is your overwhelming positive passion? Grace and Peace, Will

FBC Deacon Nominations

Dear Church,

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for this weekend.
