All the MVMs of Guwahati have hosted the occasion on the 12 th and 13 th January 2010 at Assam Engineering Institute Ground, Chandmari in a grand way. The celebration of Annual function as Gyan Yug Diwas was presided by Brahmachari Girish Ji, Chairman, Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools Group, Br. (Dr.) Girish Momaya, Director, Maharishi European University, The Netherlands, Dr. Prakash Chandra Joshi, VicePresident, MSS, Dr. Madhukar Dwivedi, Resident Editor, Maha Media News Services, Brig. G. S. Sandhu, Director (P&A), Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools Group, Shri Rajesh Sharma, Dy. Director, Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools Group and thousands of students, parents, staff & other dignitaries. The Hon’ble Chairman Brahmachari Girish Ji and all the other dignitaries were given a traditional welcome of Assam. Ved chanting was done by Vedic pundits followed by Tilak ceremony and presenting of the ‘Shaubhagya Kalash’ to the Chairman by principal MVM-I. After that Guru Parampara Pujan was performed by Hon’ble Chairman Brahmachari Girish Ji and all delegates from MVM National Office. It was followed by Lighting of the Lamp by the Hon’ble Chairman. A welcome speech was given by Smt. Manika Goswami Principal MVM-I Silpukhuri. Hon’ble Chairman Brahmachari Girish Ji delivered a speech, which really enthralled the audience. The “Gyan” Annual Magazine was released by Hon’ble Chairman Brahmachari Girish Ji on the occasion of Gyan Yug Diwas. Northeast chapter of World Peace Movement was inaugurated by Brahmachari Girish Ji, President – Maharishi World Peace Movement. The principal, Teachers and Parents of MVM-I Silpukhuri Presented a Bank Draft of Rs. 2,10,300/- (Two lakh ten thousand and three hundred only) and a citation which was given to him by Smt. Manika Goswami Baruah, Principal, MVM-I, Silpukhuri. Welcome speech was given by Smt. Panchali Roy, Principal MVM-IV. The Toppers among all the MVMs for class X and XII were felicitated. They were namely Miss Murchana Kashyap of MVM-IV, Master Debasish Goswami MVM-IV, and Miss Anwesha Sharma. Winners of the President Award by National Innovation Foundation (NIF) to Master Nikhilesh Das and Master Debanjan Mukherjee and 2nd prize to Master Prachurya Baruah in the National Painting Competition organized by National Thermal Power Corporation was also given. traditions was presented by the students of all Maharishi Vidya Mandir Branches. The programme started witha classical dance on Saraswati Vandana followed by Group Recitation, Geeta Shloka, Ved Geet etc. Speech wasdelivered by Dr. Prakash Chandra Joshi Ji, Vice President, MSS. Dr. Joshi’s Speech was followed by somemore cultural programme like Bihu Dance, Bharat Natyam, Song on Maharishi Ji’s knowledge were performed.

The afternoon session of the same day started with the arrivalof the Hon’ble Chairman Brahmachari Girish Ji and the otherdignitaries. Shri Prateek Hajela, Dy. CommissionerKamrup was the chief guest. The welcome speech wasgiven by Smt. Purnima P. Biswas, Principal MVM-V. Thechief guest Shri Prateek Hajela was felicitated with atraditional shawl and a bouquet. Shri Ajanta Das Principal,MVM-II delivered a speech. The Guest of Honour Dr. ManojChoudhury, Joint Director of Medical Education andRegistrar, Srimanta Sankar Dev University of HealthSciences, delivered a speech on the impact of T.M. on human

physiology. Dr. Choudhury’s speech was followed by a cultural programmes presented by the students of all theMVMs. The cultural programme started with Ved Chanting by the students. A Sanskrit group song was alsopresented before the audience. Brig. G.S Sandhu, Director (P&A) MVM Schools Group has addressed theaudience. Shri Nanda Banerjee, renowned musician who has opened many music schools in Assam wherestudents are initiated in to TM before giving them lessons in music, has also delivered a speech. Shri Banerjee’sspeech was followed by some more classical programmes like Folk dance, Ganesh Stuti, Krishna Leela, ManipuriDance and Group Song on World Peace. Vote of thanks was given by Smt. Bandana Neog, Principal MVM-III.

The second day programme also started by Ved chantingby the Vedic Pundits and the Hon’ble ChairmanBrahmachari Girish Ji and the other dignitaries were givena grand welcome. Guru pujan was performed by Hon’bleChairman Brahmachari Girish Ji and other dignitaries &guests. The welcome speech was given by Smt. BandanaNeog, Principal MVM-III. The chief guest the occasion wasDr. Gautam Baruah, Director IIT and Shri SabinRajkhowa, Secretary, Shrimanta Shankardev Kala kshetrawas the guest of honor. The function was also attended byShri Himanta Biswas Sharma, Minister of Health andFamily Welfare Govt. of Assam, who was the special guest of honour. All the guests were felicitated by thestudents with a traditional shawl and a bouquet of flowers. The Hon’ble Chairman Brahmachari Girish Ji remindedthe students and audience about importance of practicing TM and Maharishi Consciousness based Education.After his speech, Dr. Gautam Baruah, Director IIT, Shri Sabin Rajkhowa, Secretary, Shrimanta ShankardevKalakshetra, and Shri Himanta Biswa Sharma, Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare, (who was thespecial guest of honor) delivered their speech. After that there was prize distribution ceremony for academicexcellence shown by the students in their CBSE examination. The students of the MVMs, then presented a verycolourful cultural programme based on the Indian Culture & tradition like Saraswati Vandana, Assamese groupsong, Gujrati Chorus, Group dance, Vande Mataram, Classical Fusion, Ganesh Vandana , Patriotic dance, Tamildance, Evolution of Indian culture, Drama on Ratnakar.

The programme ended successfully with the vote of thanks given by Smt. Purnima P. Biswas, Principal MVM-V.It was followed by our State Anthem sung by the students of MVM-I Silpukhuri. It is significant to mention thatboth the days the celebration was attended by 6000 students, 300 teachers and more than 10000 parents.The two days programme celebrated as ‘Gyan Yug Diwas’ was a grand success under the able guidance ofour Regional Director, Shri T. P. Bhattacharjee, Principals of all MVMs, Staff and Students.

ANNUAL SPORTS MEETMaharishi Centre for Educational Excellence, Bhopal celebrated 4th Annual Sports Meet-2010 on 10th Januaryto commemorate Gyan Yug Diwas. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Brig. (Dr.) K. K. Maudar, Director,Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre, Bhopal. The Guest of Honour was Dr. T.C. Pathak, NationalDirector (CPR), MVM Schools Group. Brig. (Retd.) S. S. Ahlawat, Director, MIM, Bhopal was also present tograce the occasion. On this special day, the Chief Guest appreciated the zeal and enthusiasm of the students asthey displayed fabulous coordination on the track. Smt. Suchitra Dutt, principal, MCEE appreciated the hardwork, determination and stamina of the students and teachers.

Track EventsVarious track events were organized for Senior, Junior andpre-primary wing. These competitions were organized forboth boys and girls. March Past by MCEE Bhopal StudentsMarvelous performance was displayed by the Primary andSenior Section in the P.T. Display. Students made beautifulformations during the drill. Sushrut house did the best P.T.Display.Similarly, the students showed perfect example of discipline andcoordination during the March Past. The school squad was ledby Master Joy Crispin and the Flag Bearer was Master AkashKhare. Nagarjun House did the best March Past.

Cultural ProgrammesThe whole sequence of events were nicely displayed by soulfulsongs and beautiful dance performances. The inspirational song‘Galat Mat Kadam Uthao’ touched the heart of the people.Choumasa dance performance by the girls brought the flavour ofRajasthani folk dance alive in the hearts of the spectators. Andwhen the Junior boys and girls performed on the song ‘Dan danadan goal’ they actually brought in front their ability to make theimpossible possible. In the line of music and dance, the schoolband led by Suryakant Kumar showed their skills and entertainedeverybody.

Horse Riding showHorse Riding is an one of the major co-curricular activity ofMaharishi Centre for Educational Excellence. Ayush Gupta,Sidharth Shrivastava, Suraj Sharma, Swapnil Richhariyasurprised the public with breath taking performances.End of the function was not at all less entertaining, as the studentsenjoyed 100 m flat race of the staff and Parents, Brisk walkingrace of lady teachers and Ball race of the mothers.The whole programme was bound with crisp anchoring and properflow of events and Prize Distribution. The function concludedwith felicitation of students and teachers, folding of the flag andfollowed by National Anthem.

Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Ratanpur celebrated “Gyan Yug Diwas” the 92nd birth anniversary of His HolinessMaharishi Mahesh Yogi Ji with glee and felicity on 12th January 2010 in the school campus. The occasion wasto affirm gratitude and allegiance to Maharishi Ji’s thoughts and ideologies. The focus was on stepping forwardfor the establishment of World Peace, the cherished dream of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ji.

Eminent presence of Dr. A.S. Pillai (Distinguished Scientistand Chief Controller, Research and Development, DRDO,Ministry of Defence, New Delhi & CEO and ManagingDirector Brahmos Aerospace New Delhi) added grace tothe occasion. He is a recipient of various awards includingDRDO scientist of the year (1988), Vikram Sarabhai AwardPadmshri from Govt. of India etc. He is a fellow of theIndian National Academy of India and Honorary fellow ofthe association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India.Dr. P.K. Annual Sports Meet of Maharishi Vidya Mandir with Prize Distribution ceremony was concluded with fulltempo and gusto in the school premises on 9th January 2010 amidst a large gathering.

Shri P. L. Pandey, IPS, Director General (Jail) was theChief Guest and Mr. Ashok Dhyanchand (Arjun Awardee– Hockey) was the guest of honour, Dr. T.C. Pathak, NationalDirector (CPR), MVM Schools Group and Mrs. SuchitraDutta, Principal, Maharishi Centre of EducationalExcellence also graced the occasion with their presence.

Shri P.L. Pandey called upon the students to become aconstructive force full of tremendous energy for the gloryof nation by minimizing their dependence on artificial meansof entertainment. He showed his concern over the increasingcommercialization amongst the educational institutions,running schools without proper facilities for the games andsports.

Shri Ashok Dhyanchand Ji in his address consideredMaharishi institutions to be the epitome of culture and education. He appreciated their efforts being made in thefield of sports and games. He emphasized on the need to mark country’s presence at the international level ingames and sports.

The programme marked its beginning with welcome and motivational songs. After hoisting the School Flag, theChief Guest declared the Sports Meet open. An outstanding March Past Show enthralled the audience.

Finals of Various Sports Events and races Cindrella Race, Blasting the Bunkers, 100m, Relay Races etc, wereorganised during the day. Enthusiastic Sports Meet changed the day into a marvelous one. Team events wereconcluded on 6th and 7th of January 2010.

Multifarious Drills, Peacock Dance and Bhangra added colourto the day and fascinated the audience.

Dr. S.N. Rai, Principal, Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Ratanpurin his address extended his heartiest warm floral welcome tothe Chief Guest, guest of honour and other distinguishedguests. He emphasized on the need of inculcating the spiritof self discipline, co-operation and co-ordination in thebehaviour of students as they foster all round developmentof the students to their fullest potential spiritually, intellectuallyand physically.

The winners of all the sports events were felicitated by theGuest. Guests were honored with mementoes.

New programmes bring Maharishi Ayur-Veda natural health care andintegrative medicine to millions of Americans

1 February 2010 - A new Health Professionals Training Programme in Maharishi Ayur-Veda—the world’soldest system of natural health care—has been offered to many US physicians in 2009 and early 2010 byMaharishi Ayur-Veda Association of America.
