:~ CHAIRMANIDIRECTOR'S MESSAGE :~~ ~:~ When auditions were organized last May, the August play was to be the hi-;~~~ larious classic "One for the Pot". It involved a large cast of twelve, with nine parts ~~...~ . ~!l~~ for men. Of course, not enough men came forward so It had to be cancelled ~~ (postponed, actually - we're going to try again next year) and I had to quickly hunt ~:~ around for something else. Grabbing a dozen or so scripts from our library, luckily :~~~ "Key for Two" was amongst them. Although not familiar with the play, the fact ~~:~ that one of the authors was John Chapman made me read it first. John Chapman:~

~ has co-authored so many hit comedies (including "One for the Pot"!) and this was 0~~ another. First presented at the Vaudeville Theatre, London, England in 1982, it ran ~~

:~ for four successful years and has been revived many times all over the British Isles. :~wIt has also travelled to Canada where it is currently being presented in Ontario! It ~~~ certainly is very, very funny. I didn't stop laughing until I had read the last page:~~ and my cast has also been laughing at the lines they have to say during our rehears- ~~~...~ 1 ~ !l~~ a s. ~~~ ~~~ Kate Bowring, after we had been rehearsing for two weeks, stopped me ~~ over lunch and scolded me for not announcing earlier that I had changed the play. ~~~~ She had seen "Key for Two" in London and thought it was the funniest thing she ~:~ had ever seen. "I want to be in it" she said. "If anybody drops out - I want the ~~~ part!" Well, somebody did and Kate quickly dropped in. Lizanne also arrived to ~:~ see if there were any parts open but, although nobody else dropped out, with cast ~~I members going away on holiday (some for three weeks!), others going AWOL, Li-I~~ zanne has played nearly every part in the play. I certainly owe her a great vote of ~~~~ h k ~~~tans. ~

~ ~~ Well, I've run out of space (Penny says no more room!) ~~ ~~~ ~~~ Enjoy I ~~~~ ~~

A MESSAGE FROM THE THEATRE MANAGER

For those of you who are regular members of our audience, we hope you are pleasedwith the changes to the foyer area. The new flooring certainly gives a brighter lookand, with the bar now moved, a roomier space. We also hope you like the newchairs in the auditorium, kindly donated by Mr. Alan Hall, and find them more comfortable than the second-hand ones we have had since the Playhouse opened.

Improvements have also taken place in "non-audience" areas. The food servery hasbeen relocated and improved, the walls having been tiled with tileboard and the floortiled with tiles similar to those in the foyer. Two dishwashers have been installed(kindly donated by Mrs. Alice Schwaigert) and a garbage compactor (kindly donatedby Anne and Bill Mervyn). Altogether a huge improvement and addition to our facility. Wardrobe and props have been relocated to the new storage facilities upstairs. These areas have also been decorated and completed with shelving, and wardroberacks installed. Another huge improvement.

The Playhouse Management Committee would like to thank all those members whohave given so freely of their time over weekends (and some evenings) to make thechanges and improvements possible. I personally would like to thank in particularPaul de Freitas, RutWyn Bodden and my own Penny Phillips for all their dedicationand hard work.

Please remember, it is your theatre and we manage it to the best of our ability, butwithout your support it would not exist.

We hope you enjoy our current production of "Key for Two".
