There has been a disappointing Facebook-led campaign this week, highlighting the results of acatering inspection that took place in October 2013. We would like to take this opportunity to

clarify the reasons for the judgement which I know will reassure Parents and Carers.

Whilst it is true that the West Site achieved a one-star rating, the judgement has no bearing onthe quality of food hygiene and safety of the Academy kitchens, which were rated as Good. Theoverall judgement was downgraded due to a compliant document, the Hygiene and Best PracticeGuide, not having been updated to reflect practices in the new school buildings. This led to alow grading for Confidence in management systems but in no way reflects on the safety andquality of the food prepared. Indeed, on the day of the inspection, all records were up to date, including aspects related to hygiene such as temperature records, cleaning schedules, trainingcertificates and other related records such as pest control. These were all complimented on interms of quality and thoroughness.

The Academy has taken immediate actions to update this document and additionally added flow

charts/statements displayed prominently in both kitchens. Furthermore, the Academy hasrecently requested a re-inspection as it is confident a much higher rating (aiming for five starcompliance) will be awarded following the updating of this material it should be noted the Eastsite was a three star rating in the old buildings with the same procedures/practices (suggestinga five star rating is again very achievable).

There is no suggestion that the hygiene of the food prepared at the Academy is in any way atrisk. This area has always been, and will continue to be, treated as an absolute top priority.
