E-Biz R12 Upgrade for a US-basedMedical Equipment Manufacturer

Abstract

The client was using Oracle EBS ver. 11.5.10.2 and wanted to upgrade to release 12.1.3 to take advantage of the enhanced features and functionalities. L&T Infotech conducted an assessment of the client’s current Oracle and non-Oracle systems and planned the upgrade using a phased approach to align with the client’s primary objective of zero business disruptions, while leveraging Oracle R12 enhancements. We also managed the client’s global IT landscape assessment across US, Europe, APAC regions and presented recommendations on their IT Roadmap.

Client Profile

Founded in Australia, the client is a global manufacturer of products for the treatment of sleep disorders, particularly obstructive sleep apnea. They operate in 100 countries via direct offices and a network of distributors. The client changes lives by developing, manufacturing and distributing medical equipment for the treatment, diagnosis, and management of sleep-disordered breathing and other respiratory disorders.

Business Requirements

The client was looking for an assessment of the current ERP and non-ERP systems and wanted a recommendation on the path forward. They were using Oracle E-Business 11.5.10.2 and wanted to upgrade to 12.1.3 to take the benefit of enhanced functionalities and features.

Managed the client’s global IT landscape assessment across US, Europe, APAC regions, and presented recommendations on their IT Roadmap

Fast track technical upgrade within 42 weeks aligning with the client’s constraints on timelines. Also leveraged R12 enhancements involving minimum effort, while providing maximum business value categorized as ‘Quick-Wins’.

Retrofit of 3000+ CEMLI objects within the stipulated time period of 10 weeks.

Alignment of upgrade methodology in line with FDA, GMP and CSV statutory compliance requirements.

Assessment Project delivered in 6 weeks from two locations, but covering the client’s global operations

Fast track technical upgrade within 42 weeks aligning with client’s constraints on timelines

Upgrade completed over a weekend in 44 hours, with no disruption to global business activities

The flawless upgrade provided a platform for complex future projects like the common promotion engine and global online store, which integrates with Oracle EBS module, especially Order management, Inventory and Receivables. The multi-org architecture of Oracle R12 makes it easier to implement global projects

The assessment report provided to client as part of Upgrade assessment gives a detailed view of the business processes followed in different regions. This enabled the team to eliminate redundant customizations, which were present across different regions
