Resources Needed
• A computer with administrative privileges (for allowing program downloads)
• Dylos DC1700 monitor
• TRENDnet TU-S9 USB-to-Serial converter cord
• Current version of TRENDnet TU-S9 USB-to-Serial converter driver
• Current version of PuTTYSSH/telnet client (Windows)
• Patience

Before You Download the First Time
• 1) Generate the file name prefix and write it on the equipment label on each Dylos.
• 2) Set up a folder on your computer for your Dylos downloads.

Use this file name convention:[3-character initials] _ [Monitor location I, O, R] _ [Dylos ID#]

Driver Download

• 3) Install & run the driver for TRENDnet TU-S9 USB-to-Serialcable (white cable).

• 4) Verify the USB port number for one of your computer’s COM ports.

• 4a) In the lower left corner of your desktop, search for and open Device Manager.

• 4b) With the Trendnet cable inserted to a USB port, look under PORTS for the COMnumber next to Prolific USB-to-Serial.

PuTTY Download
• 5) Download PuTTY onto your computer.
Download from: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html
• Choose the 64-bit option

Configure PuTTY: Session
• 1) Open PuTTY with the TRENDnet cable in your computer’s USB port. The Session screen is open.
• 2) Select the Serial option (upper right corner).
• 3) Change the Serial Line COM port to match the port number for where the TRENDnet cable is installed.

Configure PuTTY: Serial
• 4) At the bottom of the left side menu pane, select Serial.
A new screen will open.
Change Flow Controlto None.
The other options should remain, showing the correct COM port, Speed (baud) 9600, Data Bits 8, Stop Bits 1, and Parity None.

Configure PuTTY: Logging
• 5) At the top of the left side menu pane, select Logging.
A new screen will open.
Under Session Loggingselect All Session Output and Always append to the end of it. Deselect the other options.

• 6) Under Log File Name, use Browse to find the folder where you are saving your Dylos downloads.
• 7) Enter the file name for your Dylos. Start with your 3-character initials, followed by location, machine ID#, then download date & room name.
Select Save.

Run PuTTY
• 8) Plug the TRENDnet cord serial end into the port on the Dylos and turn on the monitor.
• 9) In PuTTY select Openat the bottom of the window.
(If you get an error message, ensure that you have the correct COM port number and that the COM port is working.)

• 10) Click your mouse inside the black PuTTY window.
• 11) On your keyboard, hold down Shift and D simultaneously, then press Enter.

Run PuTTY
Data should start to download with one line for every minute of data for your given monitoring period.
If it doesn’t, repeat step 10. Check to make sure the cord is secure in both the Dylos and the COM port and that the Dylos is turned on.
When it is finished, the Dylos will revert to the Continuous Mode. Some undated numbers may appear at the bottom.

Close PuTTY
• 12) Close the PuTTY screen; You will be prompted by “Are you sure you want to close this session?” Select OK.
[ Before clearing data, check to make sure you can find the file and that the file name is correct.
Open it with Notepad to ensure that the download was successful; it should contain ~7 days of data and should be in the 100-400 KB range, depending on days monitored. ]

Clear Dylos History
• 13) Scroll through the Dylos menu, using the middle MODEbutton, until you come to the Clear History? screen.
• 14) Press the right SELECT button to clear the history.

Rinse, Repeat
• Repeat the process (Step 1 – 14) for the additional 2 Dylos units

Upload your file to Citrix https://lindawigington.sharefile.com/r-r14c810b22454a529• Note that Sharefile
won’t upload folders, so drag & drop individual files. Please upload multiple files at once.
• 16) Return Dylos to their respective locations. Note that the power adapter can be stiff, so ensure the plug is firmly secured in the adapter port.
