INTRODUCTION

Johnson Controls, Inc. announces Software Release 2.9 for the DVN 5000 Series and DVN 100-NET Series products. Release 2.9 for the DVN 5000 Series includes support for 32 channels on Rackmount Series models, support of various MPEG4 Panasonic® and Sony® network cameras, and provides a host of new features. See “New Software Features (DVN 5000)” on page 2. Release 2.9 also resolves multiple software issues.

Release 2.9 for the DVN 100-NET Series includes the new Quad View feature and resolves some minor software issues. See “New Software Features (DVN 100-NET)” on page 5.

NOTES New DVN 5000 models supporting 32 channels are currently not available for

purchase; however, existing DVN 5000 Rackmount models can be field-upgraded to support 32 channels (part number DVN-SYSHDD-32). For information on the planned release date of new 32-channel models, contact your local Johnson Controls representative.

DVN products (DVN 5000 Series servers and clients and DVN 100-NET Series units) running software version 2.9 are not backwards compatible with DVN products running software version 2.7 or earlier. In addition, upgrading any single DVN 5000 server, client, or DVN 100-NET to software version 2.9 (or purchasing a new DVN 5000 server with software version 2.9) requires all DVN products in the system to be upgraded to software version 2.9.

Do not downgrade a DVN 5000 server or DVN 100-NET video codec running software Release 2.9 to an earlier version.

Johnson Controls also announces Software Release 3.2 for the SiteManager client software. SiteManager provides an interface to control multiple DVN systems, allowing you to control and monitor several sites simultaneously. New features in SiteManager Release 3.2 are described in “SiteManager Release 3.2” on page 16.

New Software Features (DVN 5000)

DVN 5000 Release 2.9 includes the following new features:

Support of 32-channels (16 analog cameras and 16 network cameras, or 32 network cameras) on a single DVN 5000 (Rackmount Series only).

Support of various MPEG4 Panasonic and Sony fixed or Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) network cameras (see Table 2 and Table 3) for a complete Internet Protocol (IP) Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) solution.

Software Release Notes DVN 5000 and 100-NET Version 2.9

NOTES Training certification for IP/network camera installation and usage is required.

If users do not complete the training and request technical support, they will be charged for the requested support. For training information, contact Global Learning and Development at 414-524-4000, extension 4286.

Tours are not supported for any network PTZ camera; however, targets tours are supported. Also, a targets tour can be created to emulate a tour. Please contact the camera manufacturer’s Technical Support center or refer to the camera’s documentation for assistance.

Single Sign-On Authentication using Microsoft® Active Directory directory service or other Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) servers. This feature enables users to log on to the DVN software by entering their Active Directory directory service or LDAP user account name and password. The added Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol helps prevent eavesdropping of login names and passwords between the LDAP server and the DVN 5000.

DVN Text Insertion Service, which allows clients running under any operating system to send text insertion messages over the IP network from Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals, Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), fuel pumps, a keyboard, or other special-purpose embedded computer applications using a Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) socket.

1. Supported firmware versions of each listed model are in parentheses.

2. Successfully tested by Johnson Controls.

3. Use at MPEG4 bit rates at or below 512 Kbps.

Support of longer user names and passwords – user names can now have a maximum of 64 characters and passwords can have a maximum of 128 alphanumeric characters.

Increase in the maximum number of simultaneous client connections to the DVN 5000 server (from 16 to 32).

Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) server functionality. SNMP clients can request status data from the DVN server, which can generate notifications when the value of an important status variable changes. The following DVN attributes can be viewed from an SNMP client: DVN version, camera number, camera name, camera configuration, camera operation, Network Time Protocol (NTP) server connection, Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) operation, and disk volume and operation.

Scheduling archive backups from the same day or previous day’s video with directory wildcards to simplify categorizing and searching.

Authentication option when backing up archive video, enabling users to add a unique electronic signature to .AVI files generated during the backup process. This later helps to determine whether someone has tampered with the back-up files after being saved in their defined storage location.

Online help for VisionWeb.

Updated Microsoft Windows XP® Embedded operating system (Release 8.0).

Better support for dual core processors, increasing the speed and reliability of the DVN.

White List feature that allows remote DVN 5000 Series server access to clients connected only from a specific IP address or a group of IP addresses.

Local Network Access limitation; the DVN server can be configured to authenticate a user only if the client computer is on the same subnet as the DVN 5000 server.

Support of up to 32 characters (instead of 15) for the DVN TCP/IP host name.

User login bypass feature, which enables Web portal application developers using the DVN Software Development Kit (SDK) to allow users from a client computer, once they initially log in, to bypass the login requirement each time they visit a video-enabled portal page.

Integration with P2000 software Release 3.8 and higher using the DVN Software Development Kit (SDK). For more information, see “DVN Software Development Kit (SDK) and Integration with P2000 Software” on page 25.

New IP bandwidth estimation tool and storage calculator, which must be run before ordering and installing the DVN 5000. The tools are available on the USB flash drive included in the DVN 2.9 upgrade kit or for free on the following site:

New Software Features (DVN 100-NET)

DVN 100-NET Software Release 2.9 includes the following new features:

The Quad View feature (see “The DVN 100-NET Quad View Feature” on page 5 for more information).

The Remote Reboot function, which enables you to remotely reset the DVN 100-NET from any client computer with network access to the device.

The Language Configuration option, which enables you to change the language displayed on the DVN 100-NET’s user interface.

Support of 4CIF (Common Intermediate Format), 2CIF, CIF, QCIF resolutions with IP cameras. Prior to Release 2.9, the DVN 100-NET could only decode at CIF and QCIF resolutions with IP cameras.

Support of longer character strings for DVN 5000 Release 2.9 user names (64 characters) and passwords (128 characters).

The DVN 100-NET Quad View Feature

The DVN 100-NET Quad View feature enables any DVN 100-NET in decoder mode to display a view of up to four MPEG4 cameras from a DVN 5000 or other DVN 100-NET server (in encoder mode) on a single spot monitor.

A spot monitor configured for quad view mode displays four equal quadrants, with each quadrant displaying a particular camera view. See Figure 1.

NOTEWhen using the DVN 100-NET quad view feature, we strongly recommend limiting each camera to CIF resolution at 30 Frames Per Second (FPS) (or 4CIF resolution at a maximum of 10 FPS). Increasing the resolution and/or FPS will overload the DVN 100-NET CPU, which will delay the time it takes to display the video. When viewing a single video stream, you may use 4CIF at a higher FPS.

Resolved DVN Software Issues

The latest DVN software resolves the following issues:

You can now use two encoders on the same camera for multiple sectors.

Text on exported video now matches the actual frame rate and resolution.

Configuration setting now allows replay for Time Lapse sector.

DVN 5000 server can now record at 4 Common Interchange Format (4CIF) resolution from DVN 100-NET servers (previous limitation was 2CIF).

Network address name and group now saves correctly and does not truncate.

Fixed issue in RemoteControl where the scheduler pre-alarm setting causes a post-alarm record time of the same value to be added to every camera.

Fixed issue where the archive export request from RemoteControl, SiteManager, or the Software Development Kit (SDK) causes the DVN to restart if the end date/time is greater than the most recently archived video timestamp.

DVN no longer restarts when users trigger a tour for a network camera.

Fixed 10-second discrepancy between an exported video clip’s start and end time and the actual user-defined start and end time settings in SiteManager and RemoteControl.

DVN 5000 servers with a Broadcom® RAIDCore™ RAID controller now display the status of the RAID when it is in a critical or offline state.

Fixed backup error that caused the DVN to back up more video than initially configured by the user. In addition, the DVN backed up the extra video at a different image rate.

When users back up video footage with audio, the DVN now records the audio with the footage.

Prior to Release 2.9, the Camera Activity screen would remain inactive after users enabled the Camera Activity feature on the Main screen. The Camera Activity feature displays only the cameras where motion is currently detected.

When the toolbar is disabled, SiteManager no longer crashes when users change a single camera view to full screen mode.

Fixed the audio volume control on the DVN 100-NET configuration interface. Previously, modifying the range (0-100) made no discernible difference in volume.

Limitations and Known Issues in Release 2.9

This section describes various constraints and issues that have been reported with the DVN 5000 Release 2.9 software and that will be addressed in a subsequent release.

Split Video Window Limitation

Issue: DVN 5000 performance degrades after selecting the 9 or 16 camera split video window view under the following conditions:

When more than four network cameras are configured at 4CIF on the Setup>Cameras Configuration screen and

Viewing the split video window locally from the DVN 5000 server.

NOTEA network camera can be an AXIS, Panasonic, or Sony network camera, an analog camera connected to a DVN 100-NET encoder, or a camera connected to a different DVN 5000.

This issue occurs as a result of the load placed on the DVN’s processor to convert MPEG video streams to VGA.

This issue does not occur when viewing the split video window from a DVN client computer using SiteManager or RemoteControl.

Symptom: System fails to record video. Other system performance issues, such as live video degradation, may occur.

Workaround: If you have more than four network cameras configured, use the 9 or 16 camera split video window feature only on a DVN 5000 client computer.

DSP Resource Overload

Issue: When the Available DSP Resources indicator on the Setup>Cameras Configuration screen indicates the system’s Digital Signal Processor (DSP) resources are Fully Loaded, video recording issues can occur.

Symptom: System fails to record video.

Workaround: Modify a camera’s encoder settings until the Available DSP Resources gauge no longer indicates that the system is Fully Loaded. You may have to reduce certain settings, such as the Encoder Rate or Resolution, to reduce the load on the digital signal processor.

Resource Overload

Issue: Connecting a network camera to multiple DVNs slows the camera’s response time. This issue occurs as a result of the load placed on the IP camera’s processor. Do not overload the network camera.

Symptom: Loss of video and missed motion events.

Workaround: Connect the network camera to a single DVN, which could be used to feed the network camera’s video to other DVNs.

NOTEDo not configure the same network camera multiple times on the same DVN. If your system requires this type of configuration, configure the network camera once and then refer to this camera as a DVN 5000 device type in other camera configurations. For example, if camera 1 is configured as an AXIS, Panasonic, or Sony camera, select camera 2 on the Setup>Cameras Configuration screen, select Johnson Controls® as the Device Class and DVN5000 as the Device Type. Then enter the IP address, login, and password of the DVN 5000 server, and select Video 1 as the Source.

Object Sizing with Permanency Feature

Issue: When setting the object size for use with Permanency detection, users can define the object size larger than the region of interest. The DVN fails to trip a Permanency alarm under this condition.

Workaround: After configuring Permanency alarms, use the Test button on the Setup>Motion Settings screen (Permanency tab) to verify minimum and maximum object size.

Darkening Detection

Issue: When Darkening Detection is enabled on the Setup>Motion Settings screen (Motion>Standard tabs) and users set the slider bar to a number between 0% and 100%, the DVN may fail to trip a Darkening Detection alarm.

Workaround: When Darkening Detection is enabled, set the slider bar to 100% only. Setting the slider to 0% means no darkening and 100% means it is fully dark.

Using the Right Mouse Button in RemoteControl

Issue: Using the right mouse button in RemoteControl may fail when attempting to perform certain actions. For example, using the right mouse button to resize custom view panels in RemoteControl may fail.

Workaround: Avoid using the right mouse button. Use only the left mouse button when using RemoteControl.

Audio Volume

Issue: Adjusting the audio volume of specific channels by clicking the Audio button on the Main screen and using the volume controls on the Audio Adjustment screen causes a decrease in the audio volume level when the slider bar is set to 50% or higher.

Workaround: Adjust the audio volume by using only the Volume control bar on the left side of the Main screen.

Audio in Stereo Mode

Issue: Any adjustment to the volume/amplification and/or balance level of an audio device set for stereo mode on the Setup>Audio Configuration screen has no effect. The volume level will be 100% and balance level will be centered, regardless of the level manually set by the user.

Workaround: If necessary, adjust the volume/amplification and/or balance level at the audio device itself.

Motion Filter

Issue: Running the motion filter may yield inaccurate results after a user modifies the time period on the Find screen. The system may not display all motion information.

Workaround: Click the Refresh button whenever you click the plus (+) or minus (–) Time Scale Selection buttons to modify the time period.

Potential USB Mouse Lock-Up

Issue: All DVN 5000 units are currently shipped with a USB mouse. Although unlikely, the mouse may lock-up if DVN cables are located within a foot of a radiated noise source.

Workaround: If a lock-up occurs, simply disconnect the mouse from the DVN’s USB port and then reconnect it to resolve the issue.

False Motion Detection Alarms (DVN 5000 Desktop Only)

Issue: For network or analog cameras configured and enabled in the software, but disconnected from the server, the alarm log for DVN 5000 Desktop units displays false motion detection alarms.

Workaround: Ignore any motion detection alarms for cameras that are currently disconnected from the DVN or remove the unused cameras from the configuration.

RemoteAccess (Firewire) Error Message in Log

Issue: The following error message may appear in the DVN log:

RemoteAccess: Unable to add the interface {8E1AB9CB-7666-476E-8DC1-91810B7C991E} with the Router Manager for the IP protocol. The following error occurred: Cannot complete this function.

Starting interface... This due to firewire interface on the motherboard.

This error occurs when the firewire on the motherboard tries to emulate itself as another network connection, therefore requiring another IP address.

Workaround: Ignore the error message. This issue does not negatively affect the DVN system.

Decreasing Sector Storage Time

Issue: An hour of video may be lost after decreasing the maximum time allotted to a camera on the Setup>Sectors Configuration page. For example, if you change the maximum time for a particular camera from 7 to 3 hours, the DVN begins re-allocating the additional recording time among the other cameras. When this

occurs, the DVN eventually begins recycling recorded video at 2 hours instead of 3. The DVN corrects this issue once it detects the hour discrepancy.

Workaround: Add an extra hour to the maximum time.

RS485 Interface for Dome Control Limitation

Issue: The RS485 interface for dome control (part number DVN-DOMECONT) supports a maximum of three PTZ cameras. Attempting to control more than three PTZ cameras with a single DVN-DOMECONT results in irreparable damage to the interface device.

Workaround: When additional PTZ camera control is required, purchase additional DVN-DOMECONT devices, as needed, which can be connected to different USB ports of the DVN. Alternately, purchase the B&B Electronics model 485OT9L for all PTZ camera controls.

VisionPocket Locks Up

Issue: VisionPocket software fails to respond and the camera display appears corrupted when VisionPocket is left in full-screen, portrait mode for approximately 1 hour (on primary power). VisionPocket may lock up in less than an hour when a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) runs on battery power.

Workaround: Restart the PDA and re-launch VisionPocket.

Internet Error When Logging On to a DVN 100-NET Encoder

Issue: Users receive a “Page Not Found” error when logging on to a DVN 100-NET encoder or when attempting to access the Configuration menu, even if the Internet Protocol (IP) settings are correct and the encoder can be pinged on the network. This error may be caused by an add-on application.

To resolve this issue:

1. Verify that the encoder IP settings are correct.2. Verify you can ping the DVN 100-NET encoder from your computer. If you

cannot ping the encoder, edit the network settings, as needed, and attempt to log on to the encoder. If you still cannot log on, continue with step 3.

3. Log on to your computer with an administrator account.

4. Open a DOS command window.

5. Enter regedit and press <Enter> on your keyboard. The Registry Editor window appears.

6. On the left pane, browse to:

7. Right-click on Accepted Documents and select Export.

8. Browse to a directory and assign the following name to the file:

AcceptedDocsForIEBeforeEditing.reg

9. Click Save. This permits you to restore the registry configuration, if needed.

10. On the right-pane of the Registry Editor window, select the following items (hold down the <Ctrl> or <Shift> keys to select multiple files):

xbap

xaml

NOTEIf your computer’s registry does not have these items, ignore the instructions in this section and close the Registry Editor window. 11. Right-click over one of the selected items and select Delete.

12. Close all Internet Explorer windows and verify whether you can log on successfully to the DVN 100-NET encoder.

NOTEIf you need to restore the registry settings, double-click on the AcceptedDocsForIEBeforeEditing.reg file and accept the confirmation to restore the registry.

No Audio When Exporting as MP4 Format

Issue: Audio is not exported in the Apple MP4 format.

Workaround: Export video and audio to the native AVI or Microsoft MPeg4 V3 format to hear audio recordings.

Exported Wavelet or Enpacta Video Issue

Issue: An artifact appears at the bottom of the screen when viewing exported video recorded using the Wavelet or Enpacta compression method.

Workaround: If possible, use the MPEG4 video format for recording, since it is a superior format. If it is not possible to set MPEG4 as the recording format, export video into the native AVI format.

DVN 100-NET Reverting to Default Configuration Settings After Upgrading to Software Release 2.9

Issue: As a result of upgrading the DVN 100-NET from Release 2.7 or earlier to Release 2.9, all user-defined configuration settings may be reset to the unit’s default settings.

Workaround: Record the unit’s current configuration settings prior to upgrading to Release 2.9. After you complete the upgrade, manually reconfigure the unit’s settings, if necessary.

Panasonic WV-NP304 Network Camera Configuration Conflict

Issue: The Panasonic WV-NP304 network camera fails to save motion detection zones created or edited with the DVN RemoteControl application if another user is currently using the Alarm setup portion of the camera’s HTML setup application, which is available via a direct browser connection to the camera. In addition, the RemoteControl application fails to notify the user when this conflict occurs.

Workaround: After configuring the motion detection zones in RemoteControl, access the Panasonic camera’s HTML setup application. In the left pane, select the Setup button followed by Alarm setup. Then select the VMD area tab and verify the motion detection changes made in RemoteControl were successfully applied to the camera.

DVN Motion Detection Zones Become Misplaced After Rotating AXIS Camera Image

Issue: The AXIS network camera software includes a Rotate Image setting that enables users to rotate the camera image 90, 180, or 270 degrees. For example, if a camera is installed upside-down, users can set the Rotate Image setting to 180 degrees, so the image appears right-side up; however, as a result, any DVN motion detection zones assigned to the camera are rotated 180 degrees from the location specified in the DVN software.

To see this problem for yourself:

1. Log in to the AXIS camera software and click Setup.

2. In the left pane, select Basic Configuration>Video & Image.

3. Under Image Appearance, change the Rotate image setting to 180 degrees.

4. Click Save.

5. Click Live View. The image should be rotated 180 degrees from its original view.

6. From DVN’s RemoteControl, navigate to the Setup>Motion Settings screen.

7. Define a small motion detection zone for the AXIS camera (for example, in the bottom-right corner of the camera’s image).

8. Click the Apply button.

9. Log in to the AXIS camera software and click Setup.

10. In the left pane, select Event Configuration>Motion Detection.

11. Notice that the motion detection zone still appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen, but the camera image is rotated 180 degrees. As a result, the motion detection zone you defined in the DVN software is misplaced. The motion detection zone as it appears on the Event Configuration>Motion Detection screen is the actual area where motion will be detected.

Workaround: Using the AXIS camera software, verify the actual location of the motion detection zones on the Setup>Event Configuration>Motion Detection screen. If the zones are not in the correct location, adjust the motion detection zones in the DVN software, compensating for the Rotate image setting accordingly.

Sony Network Camera May Transmit Video to a Port Associated with a Disabled DVN Camera

Issue: When a user disables a Sony network camera from the DVN software (e.g. from Camera 1) and enables the same Sony camera within 60 seconds on a different DVN camera (e.g. Camera 2), the Sony network camera will continue to transmit video to the port associated with the disabled camera (e.g. Camera 1), even if a different camera is configured.

This issue causes the following (until the Sony camera can be restarted):

A loss of network bandwidth

If a different camera is configured for the DVN camera (e.g. Camera 1) previously enabled for the Sony network camera, video from the Sony network camera is displayed interleaved with video from the camera that Camera 1 is now configured to display.

Workaround: After disabling a Sony network camera with the DVN software, wait at least 60 seconds before attempting to re-enable the camera on a different DVN camera configuration. If you have identified that this issue currently occurs with a particular Sony camera, restart the camera.

Network Camera Video Image May Not Appear on CCTV Monitors Screen

Issue: Due to latency in the network, a network camera’s video image may not appear on the CCTV Monitors screen when configuring a camera sequence. This issue does not affect standard analog cameras.

Workaround: No workaround is required. Assign the network camera(s) to the sequence as described in the DVN 5000 Series Installation and Configuration Manual. Although the camera video image does not appear on the left, the network camera’s video will appear on the monitor as part of the defined sequence.

DVN Fails to Trigger Write-to-Storage Failure Alarms When RAID Is Offline

Issue: When the DVN’s RAID status changes to offline, such as when two or more disks fail, the DVN can no longer write to the storage archive. When this occurs, the DVN fails to trigger the following alarms associated with this type of failure:

Write Failure

Cameras Write Failure

Write Failure for Camera x

Prime Sector Write Failure

Write Failure for Prime Camera x

Time Lapse Sector Write Failure

Write Failure for Time Lapse Camera x

Alarm Sector Write Failure

Write Failure for Alarm Camera x

However, the DVN did provide the alarm when the first disk failed, which must be replaced immediately. The DVN will trigger the previous alarms under other write failure conditions, such as when the DVN is overloaded with 16 cameras running at 4CIF, 30 IPS, and recording on all 3 sectors at once.

Workaround: To receive RAID failure notifications, you may configure the following alarms, which detect RAID malfunctions:

Broken raid disks detected

Broken or missing disk for raid 1 detected

You can also use an SNMP client to monitor the status of the RAID. SNMP clients can request status data from the DVN server, which can generate notifications (or Traps) when a RAID failure occurs.

DVN Fails to Record Data on Network Drives

Issue: Using RemoteControl, users can configure a network drive for video storage; however, when this occurs, the network drive goes offline after a few seconds and the DVN fails to store data on the drive.

SITEMANAGER RELEASE 3.2

SiteManager Software Release 3.2 includes the following new features:

Use of SiteManager to configure the DVN 100-NET Quad View feature (see “The DVN 100-NET Quad View Feature” on page 5)

SiteManager Hotkey PTZ camera control to Zoom in (Z+), Focus near (F+), Move left (M ), and perform other PTZ actions

DVN 2000 support is similar to DVN 5000 support (does not support DVN 100-NET decoders, sector recording, exporting video clips, synchronized playback, and video search unless the Find Date/Time is used. Limitations and Known Issues in Release 3.2

This section describes various constraints and issues that have been reported with SiteManager Release 3.2 software and that will be addressed in a subsequent release.

Audio Channels Not Muted Initially

Issue: When opening a camera video screen in SiteManager, any audio channels associated with the selected camera will not be muted initially, even though the audio toggle button icon indicates that audio is muted (see the following icon).

Workaround: Click the audio channel toggle button twice (first to enable audio setup and then to silence audio). The audio should now be muted, as indicated by the audio toggle button icon.

Split Log File Icon Does Not Appear

Issue: The Split Log File icon does not appear on the Log explorer window (Log on file tab). See the following icon. However, users can still click the Split Log File button.

Workaround: On the Log explorer window (Log on file tab), hover your mouse cursor over the space to the right of the Refresh button. The outline of the Split Log File button appears. Click the button to split the log file.

NOTEWhen the log file size exceeds 1 MB, the file will automatically split into two separate log files.

Alarm Manager May Not Start Automatically

Issue: The Alarm Manager application may not start automatically after SiteManager is installed on a client computer. To verify whether Alarm Manager is running on a client computer running SiteManager, look for the Alarm Manager icon in the Microsoft Windows® system tray in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Workaround: If the Alarm Manager icon does not appear in the system tray, perform one of the following actions to start the Alarm Manager application:

Restart the client computer.

Double-click the AlarmManager.exe file located at:

<Local Disk>:\Program Files\JCI\SiteManager

SiteManager May Crash When Using Views in a Monitor Sequence

Issue: SiteManager resources, such as views, cameras and maps, can be added to a monitor sequence and cycled every x number of seconds; however, if a sequence includes a view, SiteManager may crash, depending on the number of views added to the sequence. We have seen this issue occur after the sequence has been running for 24 hours continuously.

Workaround: Avoid using views in a monitor sequence – use only cameras and/or maps.

UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS

The section provides step-by-step instructions for upgrading the following software:

DVN 5000 RemoteControl client software to Release 2.9 (see page 19)

DVN 100-NET software to Release 2.9 (see page 20)

SiteManager client software to Release 3.2 (see page 22)

The software upgrade files are included on the USB flash drive included in the upgrade kit, or you can download the files for free from the following site:

We recommend downloading the files before attempting the upgrade. We do not recommend running the files directly from the FTP site. Download the files from the 5000.v2.9 directory (for DVN 5000 and SiteManager client upgrades) and the DVN100-Net directory (for DVN 100-NET encoder upgrades).

DVN 5000 Software Release 2.9 Server Upgrade

The DVN 5000 server software Release 2.9 can be purchased as a field or factory upgrade. For specific instructions on upgrading the DVN 5000 server to software Release 2.9, refer to the DVN 5000 Series Server Upgrade Instructions (Part Number 24-10248-129) or the DVN 5000 Series System Drive Replacement Instructions (Part Number 24-10129-98).

NOTEAfter the DVN 5000 server has been upgraded, you must upgrade the client computers and DVN 100-NET devices.

DVN 5000 RemoteControl Software Release 2.9 Client Upgrade

This section describes how to upgrade a DVN 5000 client to Release 2.9.

To upgrade the DVN 5000 RemoteControl client software:

1. Uninstall the current DVN 5000 RemoteControl client software using the Microsoft® Add/Remove Programs application. Refer to the Microsoft documentation or online help for assistance.

2. Uninstall the current DVN SiteManager software using the Microsoft Add/Remove Programs application. Refer to the Microsoft documentation or online help for assistance.

3. Double-click to run the JCI DVN5000 Client 2.9.x.exe file located in the 5000.v2.9 FTP directory or the following directory if using the USB flash drive:

The DVN5000 Client Setup Wizard appears.

4. Click Next. The License Agreement screen appears.

5. Read the Software License Agreement, select the check box I accept the terms in the License Agreement and click Next.

6. To accept the default destination folder, click Install.

7. Wait a few moments while the DVN5000 Client Setup Wizard automatically performs all the necessary tasks.

8. Once RemoteControl has been successfully installed, select to reboot now, and click Finish.

9. After the client restarts, log on again.

10. Repeat this entire procedure for each DVN 5000 client machine.

DVN 100-NET Software Release 2.9 Upgrade

This section describes how to upgrade a DVN 100-NET to Release 2.9.

To upgrade the DVN 100-NET software:

1. Using a computer with network access to the DVN 100-NET, double-click to launch the DVN100Browser.exe file.

The JCI DVN100 Browser window appears.

The application locates all of the DVN 100-NET units on the network, regardless of the unit’s IP address.

3. Identify the IP address of the DVN100 you wish to upgrade.

If you have multiple DVN 100-NET units listed, you may not be able to determine which row corresponds to the actual unit.

To determine which row corresponds to which unit, click the red/green LED icon at the left side of the row under the Device Type column.

The L1 and L2 LEDs on the front of the unit that corresponds to the row selected will illuminate opposite patterns of red and green (when one LED is red, the other will be green, and vice-versa). This flashing pattern will continue for 3-4 seconds.

4. Double-click to launch the ServerUpdate.exe file. The DVN Server update window appears.

5. Click the browse button (...) next to the WSZ File field.

6. Locate and select the DVN100 SSM4369 complete.wsz file.

7. Click Open. The path to the selected file appears in the WSZ File field on the DVN Server update window.

8. Enter the IP Address of the DVN 100-NET you wish to update.

9. Enter the User name and Password used to log into the DVN 100-NET.

10. Click Update.

11. Click Yes on the Confirm dialog box.

During the upgrade process:

A green bar appears at the bottom of the DVN Server update window to indicate the upload status.

Two LEDs on DVN 100-NET blink to indicate that the upgrade is in progress.

When the upgrade is completed, the LEDs turn solid green.

SiteManager Software Release 3.2 Client Upgrade

This section describes how to upgrade a SiteManager client to Release 3.2.

To upgrade the SiteManager software:

1. Uninstall the current DVN SiteManager software using the Microsoft Add/Remove Programs application. Refer to the Microsoft documentation or online help for assistance.

NOTEIf you have already uninstalled SiteManager as a requirement for installing the latest RemoteControl client software, skip to step 2.

2. If applicable, uninstall RemoteView from the computer that will run the latest version of SiteManager.

3. Double-click to run the JCI SiteManager 3.2.x.exe file, located in the 5000.v2.9 FTP directory, or the following directory if using the USB flash drive:

6. Select the type of installation (Full or Custom) and click Next. If you select Custom, (shown in the screen capture below), you may choose to install specific software components.

7. To accept the default destination folder, click Install.

8. Wait a few moments while the SiteManager Setup Wizard automatically performs all the necessary tasks.

9. Once the software has been successfully installed, select whether you wish to reboot now or later, and click Finish.

10. Repeat this entire procedure for each client machine.

DVN 5000 SERIES AND P2000 SOFTWARE INTEGRATION

Johnson Controls provides integration between the P2000/P2000LE Security Management System (SMS) and Digital Vision Network (DVN) 5000 Series systems via the P2000 Digital Video Recording (DVR) Integration (AV) Option.

If integrating a DVN 5000 with a P2000 SMS, refer to Table 4 to identify which software versions are compatible between the two products.

NOTEDVN 5000 Series servers and clients running software version 2.9 are not backwards compatible with DVN products running software version 2.7 or earlier. In addition, upgrading any single DVN 5000 server or client to software version 2.9 (or purchasing a new DVN 5000 server with software version 2.9) requires all DVN products in the system to be upgraded to software version 2.9.

DVN Software Development Kit (SDK) and Integration with P2000 Software

The DVN SDK component is a fully customizable ActiveX control that can interface with Johnson Controls digital video recorder servers, such as the DVN 5000 and DVN 3000 Series models, with the Johnson Controls P2000 Security Management System (SMS) software (Release 3.8 and higher), and can be embedded in third-party applications developed with common software environments that support ActiveX technology, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Microsoft .NET framework, Microsoft Visual C++, Microsoft Visual Basic, Borland® Delphi, and Borland C++ Builder.

If you wish to interface a DVN 5000 with the P2000 software (Release 3.8 and higher), you must run the JCI DVN SDK 2.9.x.exe file on each P2000 server and workstation.
