Hailing from the Red Hook area of BROOKLYN, Duss is developing an imprint on the minds of all followers of Hip-Hop music. With his widespread

street buzz he's definitely been able to dot up the map! The ability to paint pictures of a life-

style is the goal and Duss has been more than ef-ficient in that lane. Going hard with bars that de-pict the life of man in his shoes is real enough!

To date, Duss’ catalog has exceeded all expecta-tions, proving that he is indeed a Self Made Man. His thought Provoking Raw Lyrical Content and

Delivery is proof that his future will shine brighter than ever!

In 2010, Duss met New York’s Hottest DJ/Record la-bel owner, DJ Self of power 105.1 (Selfish Music

Group), who started working with Duss to produce his second mix tape, The Voice of The People. With Duss’ gritty lyrical sound and DJ Self’s spin on his records,

The Voice of The People was embraced immediately by blogs such as Hip Hop Daily, On Smash, and Star Force Hip Hop as well as other known producers and hip hop artist. The partnership between DJ Self and Duss even-tually led to the affiliation of other music moguls and groups. Shortly after, Duss was featured in the Hood-

To-Hood documentary that aired on MTV2 later in 2010. He also was endorsed after appearing on the

Digi-Wax cypher sometime in 2011.

Later on, Duss connected with The M Digi Group & Block Exchange to manage the creative control of his projects; which is now a joint venture. The following

year, Duss’ sharpened skills and work ethic landed him in the space of Justice Anthony & Carmelo Anthony. Through that affiliation formed the Team-SmittMelo

brand. At the top of 2012, Duss re-released his smash single Maserati Dreams feat young Prince, an artist af-

filiated with DJ Clue, which was produced by main event music group. Duss is currently promoting his lat-est project: Foreign Exchange, an EP produced by Pas-

sion Hifi of Evil Twin Records, a British producer in Bedford, England, UK. Since the release of the single and Duss’ latest body of work, press outlets took no-

tice of the Brooklyn storyteller.

His story is that of a genius, one whose creativity was always caged in by the bleak realities of one of Brooklyn’s project housing.

Where Duss calls home is not simply “the hood,” it is the story of true poverty – the story of someone who never had a stable living situation, someone who has lived with mental health issues and has dealt with drug addiction amongst his friends and family. Duss is from the place where broken spirits are commonplace and where soulless addicts walk the street. As a result of his experience, Duss re-flects this part of society in his art. Sometimes, he even interjects humor into his rhetoric as a way to disguise his pain.

“Red Hook” is where he resides – the area that Brooklyn fears– claw foot metal tubs and dilapi-dated iron screen doors - the place where rappers come to take their promotional pictures and leave. Sirens, gunshots, “zombies” – “Red Hook” was the murder capital of NY.

Duss’ music is not a Hollywood, stylized version of what people perceive the streets to be. His life - and thus, his art - is a reflection of the grim realities of the streets. The real streets, not what you see on TV or what you hear glorified in modern day rap music.

His music speaks to - and exists as - an escape from the paralyzing situations that have hindered his ability for creative expression thus far in his life. His music is uniquely intelligent, but is still a true-to-form reflection of his life story. Simply put, Duss had to make his own way to survive with no caretakers – only for the reason to have a way out, an escape, a release – his music.
