the '70s and the patented Injection

Molding (IMF) of the '80s, Dunlop

And now, our latest technological

victory-the Dunlop Revelation.

A powerful super wide body racket

with significantly less shock:

that was the goal set by Dunlop

Research and Development. Their

efforts led to the Revelation-a

super wide body that not only has

less shock. but also has an

increased power zone and more

solid feel. So solid, in fact, players

feel that practically every hit is in

the middle of the sweet spot.

The secret to the Dunlop Revela-

tion racket is a patented Impact

Shock Isolation System (ISIS9.

The handle of the racket is actu-

ally cut away from the shaft

(decoupled). It's then re-attached

with special gnphite dampening

rods using a shock-absorbing

adhesive elastomer (see illustra-

tion). The impact shock and vibra-

tion that normally travel down the

shaft into a player's arm at ball

impact are interrupted at the point

ofdecoupling.

ISIS isn't the only reason the

Revelation performs the way it

does. There's also a dual-taper

super wide body cross-section

design that places the maximum

width of the frame at the top and

center of the head. The result is

increased stiffness in the area

where ball contact is made, for a

larger power zone.

A while back, players and manu-

facturers had been searching for

a graphite racket that offered the

ultimate combination of power,

control and player comfort.

Dunlop's patented manufacturing

process, Injection Molding (IMF),

led to the first racket with all of

these qualities: the Max 200G

Pro. Since its introduction in 1983,

the Max 200G Pro has won its

share of praises-and tourna-

ments. In fact, the Max 200G Pro

is Steffi Graf's racket: an extra-

ordinarily powerful combination.

Steffi, with her Max 200G Pro,

holds the longest reign as the num-

ber one tennis player in the world.

In ject ion Molding is a unique

manufacturing process in which

chopped graphite fibers are heated

with a nylon matrix material. The

mixture is injected at high pressure

into a mold containing a metal

core. The mold is then reheated to

melt away the metal core, leaving a

hollow injection molded frame.

IMF rackets offer unsurpassed

vibration dampening. Since each

graphite chip in the frame is

separated by the nylon matrix,

vibrations and shock are dissi-

pated. In conventional compression

molded rackets that use brittle

resins, the vibration and shock

travel along continuous fibers to

the player's arm.

Dynamic Stiffness is another

unique characteristic of the IMF

series rackets. The nylon matrix

material allows the racket to

stiffen or flex in relation to the

impact speed of the ball. This pro-

vides stiffness for powerful serves

and penetrating ground strokes,

plus a softer, flexible feel for deli-

cate touch shots.

The aerodynamic design of the

Imphct Series rackets features a

dual-taper cross-section. It places

the widest and stiffest part of the

frame at the point of ball impact

The frame also tapers into the grip

for more forgiving flex and greater

The Max Impact Plus and Max

Impact Pro feature an improved

Impact Modulator system made of

a metal rod cradled in Sorbothaneo

(see illustration). When the ball

hits the racket, this rod vibrates in

direct opposition to the impact

vibrations-thereby dampening
