With the Dune HD Smart series we are introducing a revolutionary concept of creating a home theatre system hub. This is the first media-platform on the market to adopt a modular approach, which allows features of the base module (media-player) to be augmented simply by adding extension modules.

Depending on requirements, the user has a choice of three different base module configurations:• Smart B1 (media player with a built-in silent Blu-ray optical drive)• Smart H1 (media player with a SATA HDD rack with hot-swap support)• Smart D1 (media player with a built in display and option to install 3.5’’ SATA hard drive).

Anyone who owns a media player from the Dune HD Smart series can add features to the player using the optional Smart series extension modules.

A standard Dune HD Smart system consists of two, or three components (larger combinations are possible), one of which is the base module (media player). Dune HD Smart B1The Dune HD Smart B1 media player is compact, features a built-in low-noise optical disc drive (CD/DVD/Blu-ray) based on Sony mechanics and optics, specially designed for usage in home cinema systems. This allows the owner of Smart B1 to play back all commercial discs from CDDA to DVD and Blu-ray discs. Besides, it is equipped with three high-speed USB 2.0 ports and an SD memory card slot. Video outputs of the model are represented by HDMI v1.3, composite and component analog outputs. Sound can be output via HDMI, Toslink optical interface, and RCA stereo.

Fastening Brackets for Dune HD Smart Family Devices (2X/3X)Fastening brackets are intended for physical connection of any two or three modules of Dune HD Smart family together. These brack-ets are mounted to the bottom of the devices and are fastened to Dune HD Smart modules at the places intended for feet fastening.

Installing the brackets is extremely easy: use a screwdriver (included) to unscrew all 4 feet of each of the modules being fastened together. Then mount the fastening brackets instead of the feet with the same screws which were used to fasten feet. On the outer sides of the resulting construction, mount 4 feet: 2 at each side (see the picture).

Dune HD Smart ME Extension ModuleThe Smart ME extension module allows to extend Dune HD players capabilities with two ports for extension boards. The Smart ME module may be connected to a Dune HD player using the en-closed USB Host-Host special cable, to any of the USB 2.0 Host ports of the player.

Dune HD Smart HE Extension ModuleThe Smart HE extension module allows to extend Dune HD players capabilities with a rack for installation of 3.5 inch SATA HDD with hot-swap support. Besides, connection to a player may be per-formed by either USB 2.0 or eSATA interface.

Also, if desired, the Smart HE module may be used with a PC as a USB or eSATA HDD box. Being connected to a Dune player or a PC via USB 2.0 interface (using the USB Slave connector on the rear panel of the extension module) the module also serves as a USB hub: two USB Host 2.0 connectors of the module may be used to connect additional external devices which are therefore made available to the Dune player or the PC.

Dune HD Smart BE Extension ModuleThe Smart BE extension module contains a special Blu-ray drive for players of premium class, which incorporates lownoise mechanics and optics manufactured by Sony. This module allows to extend Dune HD players capabilities with playback of original and user- recorded Blu-ray discs, DVDs and CDs. The Smart BE extension module is equipped with eSATA interface for the most efficient work with a player (eSATA-eSATA cable comes bundled for connecting to a player).

In terms of functionality, the Dune HD Lite 53D exceeds the performance and features of other low cost players, even offering a 2.5” SATA HDD bay inside the case (HDD not included).

The Lite 53D is compatible with almost any modern audio and video format, supports IPTV and Internet Radio, and benefits from regular firmware updates.

Dune HD Lite 53D is a low cost but highly capable universal digital media player which allows playback of standard and high definition video up to full HD (1080p). Dune HD Network — Extra Software Module LicenseDune HD Network is a flexible and powerful Full HD Digital Signage solution for general advertising and information applications involving SD and HD video formats.

The Dune HD Network system is designed for automated demonstration of a wide range of HD video materials (up to 1080P, including H.264) on monitors, television sets, etc.

The solution provides cyclic playback of video materials and includes support for scrolling text and graphic logos over the video appearing at the specified time intervals, which is typically required in public places for commercial and announcements.

The system allows to control all the aspects of the playback process remotely via a PC.

Dune HD Network is a flexible information management platform and solution decision for general advertising and information display applications. The Dune HD Network system is designed for automated demonstration of media materials on displays of all types whether standard definition or high definition. It provides cyclic display of video materials with the ability to add scrolling text lines and logos during specified time intervals. It also enables remote control of all system devices.

Possible applications include:1. Public information — news, weather and local (location specific) information, such as fire exits or emergency notices. 2. Internal information — corporate messages, health and safety, company news, etc.3. Advertising — either related to the signage location or for general audience advertising.4. Brand building — in-store digital signage to promote brands and build identity. 5. Influencing customer behavior — direct customers to different areas of the retail store while increasing dwell time.6. Enhancing customer experience — applications include the reduction of perceived wait time in restaurant waiting areas, bank queues, etc.7. Enhancing the environment — with interactive screens (in the floor for example) or with dynamic way finding.


How it works

For a player to support Dune HD Network software an extra module called Digital Signage must be added to the basic firmware. This special firmware implements the functionality available with the Dune HD Network.

System settings are divided into two categories: Basic player settings (video mode, LAN, etc) and Digital Signage mode settings (video clips playlist and other settings of this mode).

The player settings reside inside the built-in flash memory of the player. In order to change these settings, it is necessary to use the remote control to exit the Digital Signage mode to the player menu (after the settings are adjusted, you may return to the Digital Signage mode selecting the corresponding icon).

The Digital Signage mode settings are stored on the attached storage media (e.g. the attached hard disk or USB drive), together with the playback materials. These settings are stored inside a plain text configuration file. This configuration file may be prepared or edited manually in advance (before attaching the storage media to the player) or created and modified via the network using FTP protocol. The content of this configuration file may also be remotely altered using the Dune HD Network Control Center application, which must be installed on any computer on the same LAN the devices are connected to.
