Today, as in the first days of the creation, the universal equilibrium still retains its predominant position in the eternal plan of the Omnipotent. Good and evil, right and wrong, justice and mercy, attraction and repulsion balance each other to teach us to remember ourselves as immortal souls, retaining for each other respect and charity and remembering always that each is slowly climbing to that state of perfection, the final goal of all. "Be sovereign over yourself; be neither intoxicated by success nor depressed by defeat. You must not usurp in order to be enabled to punish usurpation nor must you hate error so much as not to love mankind."

SCOTTISH RITE BULLETIN A PUBLICATION OF THE DULUTH VALLEY OF THE SCOTTISH RITE

& HIBBING LODGE OF PERFECTION

31° - Inspector Inquisitor

The title of this Degree conveys the thoughts of self-examination. Every man, and more especially every Mason, should meditate prayerfully and soberly on his thoughts and acts of the day. The wrongs of today must not be repeated on the morrow, for each day should add some light and truth for our guidance for the next, and then as time goes by, our characters should be so far above reproach, so filled with the love of our fellowman, that the world would instinctively say: "There is a good man, for he is a Mason." To correct the faults of others, to admonish with love and forbearance, is a duty we owe each other, but never to judge, for that is a divine prerogative alone.

32° - Master of the Royal Secret

In this degree the crowning point is reached by those who have studied and thought. The Royal Secret, like the occult science of the ancients, is concealed even here - but remember, "Faith begins where Reason sinks exhausted." Magic, contrary to the belief of many, is but the absolute science of nature and its laws, hence the Star of Hope shines for us as truly as it did for the Wise Men of the East two thousand years ago.

THAT SPIRITUAL HOUSE - THE HOLY BIBLE I PETER 2: 5-8

1599 GENEVA BIBLE - THE INTERPRETER’S BIBLE Historically, Freemasonry is based on this passage. Deity is referred to often. Death and resurrection are emphasized time and time again. Let us look at this passage. “Ye also as lively stones, be made a spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. “Wherefore also it is contained in the Scripture, behold, I put in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect and precious, and he that believeth therein, shall not be ashamed. Unto you therefore, which believe it is precious but unto them which disobedient, the stone which builders disallowed, the same is made the heat of the corner.” So what is being said? According to the Interpreter’s Bible this letter is described as the Epistle of Courage. We as Masons are persons of courage and a noble type of piety as these books of Peter set forth. Life is a pilgrimage–journey as someone once said. The Interpreter’s Bible says, we are the “stones which build the Spiritual house. It is we, made in His image are the “living stones.” As Christ is the Cornerstone of the temple, of the temple, we complete the building. Is there an implied contrast between these spiritual stones (that’s us) and the lifeless stones of paganism. The verses reveal we must serve him “the Cornerstone”, the Spirit, in worship. (One can almost look at the painting of George Washington kneeling near his horse on that snowy day and see, feel, and hear what he is thinking about life, Masonic ways, it would seem. This passage comes to mind.) But, when we stumble or are disobedient to the Word, at those times, remember.

Building Outside Rentals:

The Building Association has been actively providing access to our building to outside organizations to provide additional income to the building and to make the public more aware of the building and Masonry. We rent out the Upper and Lower parking lots and various parts or rooms inside the building except for the Blue Room which is not to be rented. We try to only rent interior areas on those dates not used by the building partners and to give the building partners first access to the facility. If we do use the dates occupied by a building partner we do and will not do so until we get permission from the building partner. (There are fourteen building partners.) With so many partners using the building it would be

desirable and indeed, necessary, for the partners to

please keep the office and building association

informed of their desired schedules and desired rooms

as soon as they become aware of them. Even if you

are not sure of the dates, please let us know as soon as

you can so that we can schedule around your

organization. This is a Masonic Temple and it is

therefore our earnest desire to give you first choice on

dates and rooms.
