1. Airport Overview Dubai International Airport (IATA: DXB, ICAO: OMDB) is the primary international airport serving
Dubai, United Arab Emirates and is the world’s busiest airport by International passenger traffic. It is
also the world’s 3rd busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic, the sixth-busiest cargo airport
in the world.
It is situated in the Al Garhoud district, 2.5 nautical miles east of Dubai and spread over an area of
3,100 acres of land. It is also home to Emirates Airline with its fleet of Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s
and low-cost carrier Flydubai with its Boeing 737s.
1.1 Airport Parking The Airport has four main Concourses:
• Concourse A (stands A1 to A10, D1 to D10) used by Emirates only
• Concourse B (stands B14 to B27, F16 to F27), used by Emirates only
• Concourse C (stands B1 to B13, F1 to F14) used by Emirates only*
• Concourse D (stands C48 to C64) used by all other international airlines*
*The Flytampa scenery currently available for FSX/P3D does not include Concourse D, so all other
international airlines should park at Concourse C
Low cost-carriers such as Flydubai and Air India Express park at Terminal 2, on the north side of the
airport (stands E1 to E17).
The main cargo apron is situated at the north side of the airport and stands. (stands E18 increasing)
are cargo stands and are shared with low-cost airlines.
VIP Aircraft (government and state aircraft) park at stands H1 and H2.
Stands C1 to C47, stands G1 to G17, and S1 to S15 are overflow stands.

2. Departure Procedures
2.1 Departure Clearance All departing traffic out of Dubai will be issued a clearance by either PDC (Pre-Departure Clearance)
or by voice by Dubai Delivery. The PDC will contain all the departure instructions, ATIS Information,
and assigned squawk code. No readback is required for a PDC.
On initial contact with Dubai Delivery, pass the following information: callsign, aircraft type, parking
stand, requested flight level.
Departing aircraft should report ready for pushback on the delivery frequency and can subsequently
expect handoff to Dubai Ground.
2.2 Start-up Pushback and Taxi On initial contact with Dubai Ground, aircraft the ground controller will issue pushback instructions
to “Face West or Face East” based on the runway in use and the current traffic situation.
The preferred runway direction is 30 up to a 10kt tail-wind component. In this case, RWY 30R is used
for departures and 30L is used for arrivals. With 12s in use, RWY 12R is used for departures and 12L
is used for arrivals.
Pilots must plan to depart from holding points as detailed in Section 2.3.2. Aircraft requiring full
length must advise the Ground controller when requesting taxi. These aircraft may be subject to
departure delays due to runway dependencies.
Before pushback, ensure aircraft transponder is operating on mode C.
2.3 Taxi procedures Parallel taxiways K, Z, J, and U are linked to each other through designated taxiways known as
“crossovers”.
Crossover taxiways and link taxiways are only to be used with explicit authorisation from ATC.

3.3 Runway Operations In order to maximize runway utilisation at Dubai International, aircraft must adhere to the following
procedures.
3.3.1 Vacating the Runway
Dubai Tower will advise aircraft on final approach of the expected runway exit point. Aircraft are
expected to vacate the runway expeditiously via the assigned exit taxiway and pilots are reminded
that they must not reduce to less than normal taxi speed until the aircraft has completely passed
the runway holding point.
Aircraft unable to comply with this requirement must notify ATC as soon as possible.
Remain on Tower frequency unless otherwise instructed.
Pilots must not stop the aircraft after vacating as tower will typically issue an initial taxi instruction
(“left on J2”, “right on K”, etc.). This ensures that the taxiway is kept clear for the succeeding landing
traffic.
Pilots must plan their landing roll to vacate at one of the following high-speed taxiways unless
otherwise instructed.
Landing Runway Preferred Exit Point
30L K8, K9
30R M6, M3A
12L M7A, M9

Visual circuits/approaches both RWYs downwind leg to be made south of Dubai town avoiding Zabil
Palace.
VFR circuits are to be flown at 1000 ft AGL.
4.1.2 VFR Routes
For VFR routes defined within DUBAI CTA including detailed information regarding
the VFR reporting points established on those VFR routes, see VFR Chart.
4.1.3 Speed Restrictions
Maximum speed on published VFR routes is 125 KIAS.
4.1.4 Two-way Radio Communications
Before entering DUBAI CTR Class D airspace, the pilot in command of a VFR or SVFR aircraft shall
establish two-way radio communication with Dubai Tower.
Radio contact must be initiated far enough from the Class D airspace boundary to preclude entering
the Class D airspace before two-way radio communication is established. If the controller responds
with instructions to enter the CTR then radio communications have been established and the pilot
may enter the Class D airspace.
4.1.5 Entry into Controlled Airspace
If workload or traffic conditions prevent immediate entry into the Class D airspace, the controller will
inform the pilot to remain outside of the CTR until conditions permit entry.
