DSE control pendant
• The curved housing of the control pendant permits operators to work in a natural position, reducing fatigue.
• No internal wiring required in the pendant housing owing to PCB with central con- nection feature.
• Plug-in switching element design requires no tools for installation.
• 16 mm diameter openings for fitting special elements.
• ESE-N (emergency stop) switching element without step function, with forced opening of the normally closed contacts.
• LCD display option for load indication.
• Movements in opposite directions are prevented from being switched on simulta- neously by forced opening of electrically interlocked contacts.

DSE multi-button control pendants are used for the manual control of machinery by means of contactors or frequency inverters and, more particularly, for controlling hoists and overhead travelling handling equipment from the floor. Various control switch combinations can be implemented using single or double-pressure or infinitely variable switching element types. All drives are controlled indirectly via contactors or frequency inverters in the auxiliary circuit.
DSE multi-button control pendants feature 8 openings in two columns.
Design and assembly information
The housings of the control pendants are made of high-quality thermoplastic, featur- ing high shock and impact resistance. The front of the housing is in RAL 1007 yellow, the base in RAL 9005 black.
The control pendant housings are ergonomically designed for easy operation, even with gloves. The buttons have a large surface and require low operating and holding forces. The required holding force when switching is below 8 N, thus conforming with relevant standards such as DIN 33 401.
The specially curved housing design of the DSE control pendant enables operators to work in a natural position, thereby reducing fatigue. The ribs on the rear of the hous- ing prevent the operator’s hand from slipping off.
DSE multi-button control pendants feature a printed circuit board and switching ele- ment bases. This eliminates the need for internal wiring and control cables cannot be crushed during assembly.
The plug-in design of the switching elements enables them to be fitted without the need for tools. The control cable is connected via a central terminal block in the up- per part of the control pendant housing.
The normally closed contacts of the switching elements are positively opened, thus fulfilling the requirements for a safety switch.
ESE 2 BE switching elements with 2 pressure stages for switching on and 1 pressure stage for switching off are used for travel units and slewing mechanisms with 2 speeds.
The symbols are self-adhesive and resistant to wear. The arrow symbols on the plates are those specified by Section 9.941 of the FEM (Federation of European Han- dling Equipment Manufacturers) and DIN 15012 (Draft). Colours: yellow symbol on black background.
DSE multi-button control pendants can be used with or without impact protection.
If the control pendant is subject to very severe ambient conditions, the housing of the control pendant can additionally be protected by means of a rubber bumper.

Regulations These multi-button control pendants comply with the DIN VDE 0660 and EN 60947 regulations for low-voltage switching devices, IEC publications 337-1 and 158-1 and the CSA (Canada), UL (USA) and SEV (Switzerland) regulations.
The material of the control pendant housings is flame and impact resistant, unaffect- ed by extreme climatic conditions and resistant to corrosion. It is also resistant to fuels, oils, grease, sea water and alkalines. The materials used are suitable for ardu- ous mechanical and electrical duty.
The permissible temperature range under operating conditions is minus 25° C to plus 70° C for rubber and thermoplastic parts.
When assembled, the control pendants have IP 65 type of enclosure to DIN VDE 0470 Part 1 and EN 60529, i.e. they are dust-tight and protected from hose water from all directions.
High electrical safety due to protective insulation in accordance with relevant stand- ards and codes of practice, such as DIN VDE 0100 Part 410, section 6.2.
The strain relief device for all designs consists of two wire ropes fitted to the control cable by vulcanising. The strain relief device for round control cables consists of a parallel polyamide-clad wire rope.
The control pendants are fitted with a protective sleeve for control cables with strain relief cords fitted by vulcanizing and a second protective sleeve for round control cables with separate strain relief. When fitting the control cable, the conical protective sleeve can be cut off as required to fit the cable diameter.
