To Pass the Part 107 Exam

Supporting Services

Who needs a Part 107 license?

Who is eligible for a Part 107 license?

Within 2 weeks you will be ready to take your Part 107 exam. Airweb Digital covers the cost of scheduling the Part 107 exam and will help with locating a local FAA test center (800+ in the United States).

Complete the test within its allotted two hours. Have a minimum passing score of 70% (meaning, you’ll need to get at least 42 questions right out of 60)

If you fail the exam, you will need to wait 2 full weeks before you can retake it.

Retake fees will not be covered from Airweb Digital but students will still have access to video lessons and course material for life.

Airweb Digital will submit students into a minimum of 3 drone pilot databases. This will increase job visibility for drone content missions.

If students have an ideal career to add their Part 107 knowledge to, such as real estate, construction, engineering, roofing, etc, then Airweb Digital will assist with job research but does not guarantee job placement.

Anyone who flies a drone for commercial purposes anywhere in the United States must have a Part 107 license from the FAA. The FAA has a broad definition of what commercial means and you should be certified if you make money from drones (including monetization from ads on YouTube, etc). Data collectors for engineers, surveyors, infrastructure inspectors, land developers, photographers, GIS specialist, and first responders are all using drones to increase their efficiences and improve safety.

Almost everyone can become a Part 107 certified drone pilot. You need to be at least 16 years old, be physically and mentally fit to fly a drone, and be able to speak and write English. You do not need to be a US citizen. If you meet these requirements, then you need to pass the 60 question Part 107 exam to get your license.

SYLLABUSDrone Pilot Certification & Flight Training

In the winter of 2013, Canadian police claimed what is known as the first human life saved by the use of drone technology. A man had crashed in a wooden remote area, during near-freezing temperatures, and was unable to guide police to his location. Following an unsuccessful manned helicopter sweep and hours of ground recon, the next step was to send the Dragonflyer X4-ES drone with an attached FLIR (infrared camera) sensor to detect heat signatures at a different perspective.

Within 20 minutes, 3 heat signatures were picked up, with one of them being the man, who was “curled up in a ball at the base of a tree next to a snow bank”. This gave paramedics enough time ,rushing him to medical attention, and ultimately saving his life.

Should this method have been first approach? Do drones have an impact in search & rescue missions? What kind of data can be gathered from a drone and how can we use it?

In this program, you will have an opportunity to explore some of these exciting applications being conducted using commercial drones. In this process, you will develop considerable insight into the airspace regulations and the real-world use cases being applied today. You may or may not become a full-time drone pilot, but you may look to use unmanned technology within your desired workflow. This course will help you make those decisions wisely.

It will also help you understand more about a wide range of deliverables using drones as the main tool. Industry applications such as 3D models of cell phone towers for engineering inspections or virtual reality tours of college campuses for student visits. We’re covering how to plan the mission, capture the data, and develop the final results.

To realize these promises, you must take responsibility for your own learning and participate as an active learner. The best way to learn what commercial drone pilots do, is to learn from their experience.

We have arranged for each student to spend at least 14 hours learning from licensed and experienced drone pilots. These topics will cover the material of loading operations, takeoff, weather data, and more.

Learning is self paced, and once you’re ready, an exam date is chosen that works with your schedule. A score of 70% or better is considered passing and you will move into the flight training aspect of the program.

Students that pass their exam will receive their drone by mail to begin practicing data acquisition for various deliverables. During virtual flight classes we will provide feedback on assignments and live lessons showcasing proper methodologies.

To take charge of your own education, you must be willing to read and provide un-divided attention. We will provide you with some video and reading material that you will read, analyze, and think about between each module. We will distribute this material to you electronically.

By the end of this program, you should be able to understand airspace regulations, drone operations, flight paths, and creation of multiple deliverables.

We’re excited to reach new heights together, see you on the other side.
