beckon our sweaters from the

Westchester ForumEndeavour Comes to Westchester!Endeavour is now getting ready for its trip across Los Angeles to its final home at the Calfiornia Science Center in Exposition Park. The shuttle will leave LAX to begin its pre-positioning journey on the morning of October 12. It will be transported with a series of moves and stops, including a four-hour pause in Westchester, that will occur as Endeavour goes under raised transmission lines and across the 405 Freeway.

The two-day journey of Endeavour is expected to draw viewers from across Southern California. One of the biggest objects ever transported down city streets, Endeavour is five stories tall (58 feet high at the tip of the tail), has a wingspan of 78 feet and weighs 170,000 pounds. The route can be accessed on the California Science Center’s website at www.californiasciencecenter.org.

“We look forward to everyone joining in the celebration as Endeavour travels from the United Airlines hangar to the California Science Center’s Samuel Oschin Space Shuttle Endeavour Display Pavilion,” said CSC President Jeffrey Rudolph. “This will mark the first, last and only time a space shuttle will travel through 12 miles of urban, public streets. It’s not only one of the biggest objects ever transported down city streets; it’s an irreplaceable national treasure. Most importantly, this marks the beginning of Endeavour’s ultimate mission of inspiring current and future innovators and explorers at the California Science Center.”

“We are very excited to be a part of this historic event,” said Drollinger Properties President Karen Dial. “Westchester has a long association with aviation and aerospace and with Space Shuttle Endeavour, itself. The shuttle’s first pilot, Kevin Chilton, grew up right here in our back yard and attended both Visitation School and St. Bernard High School. We are thrilled to play a small role by letting the shuttle rest in one of our parking lots, and we hope everyone will come out to take a peek at this piece of American history.”

Congratulations, and thank you to the Ralphs Westchster Village, which recently completed a major interior and exterior renovation. The exterior includes new paint and graphics, while the interior space has been upgraded and redecorated.

After working in the garment industry for 30 years, pattern-maker and designer Leslie Laneuville had always dreamed of opening her own shop – a place where her fashion customers could find exactly what they were looking for at competitive prices and in an environment where customer service was the top priority. Then, along came Keith Adams. Originally from Texas, Adams spent his time operating a number of retail and restaurant locations before moving to Westchester to immerse himself in the entertainment industry.

It was not surprising, then, that the duo became engaged and ultimately opened LL Designs & Boutique on La Tijera Boulevard.

“She had a vision, and I helped her implement it,” Adams said. “It’s like Juliet had a dream, and Romeo comes a long to take Juliet to the next level.”

The boutique, located at 8705 La Tijera Boulevard in Westchester, offers a wide array of women’s fashions along with fashion jewelry, accessories and

even some children’s items. The goal, Adams said, is to make sure that the shop always stocks new, interesting and unique items.

“You can’t just go anywhere and find what we have here,” he said. “The vendors we use are not in the malls. We have lots of exclusives, and things that Leslie makes herself.”

Beyond the unique merchandise, Adams said that the pair is focused on keeping prices reasonable and bringing back the mantra that the customer is always right.

“Our whole idea is that we want to create a personal shopping experience that you can’t get anywhere else,” he said. “Our customers get candy. We have a rewards program for our VIPs. We give personal attention to everyone who walks in the door. We will even open up by appointment for a customr who

can’t get here during our regular hours ... whatever it takes to make our customers happy.”
