Overview of DriveCam

• A vehicle is equipped with a DriveCam.

• DriveCam recorder only “saves” recording when triggered by a G-Force event.

• DriveCam staff reviews each video recording for safety violations, violations of statute, or violation of Orange County Administrative Rules and Regulations

• Department/Division designated “coaches” meet with employees to show them their actions and develop solutions to improve their driving behaviors

• If violations are severe or chronic, the department/division disciplines the employee in accordance with County policy

Orange County Program Summary

• Coaching of drivers significantly improved their drivingbehaviors as indicated by the 60% reduction in “coachable”behaviors

• Safety violations are being handled as any other employee safety procedure violations

• There has been a reduction of 76% in the frequency ofautomobile accidents.

• There has a been a reduction of 81% in the severity of automobile accidents since implementation of DriveCam.
