Chairperson : Dr. Meena ChakrabartiCo Chairman : Dr. Gopal S PillaiConvener : Dr. Sunil N.Moderator : Dr. Ashok Nataraj

Despite great advances in the diagnostics and therapeutics of ocular conditions, macular diseases remain a very common cause for visual impairment especially in the elderly. A practical approach in managing macular diseases is presented in this symposium.

An interactive session with case presentation, short discussions and presentation of an evolving algorithm for the management of that condition as a take home message for the audience will be the format of presentation. All common and relevant macular disorders will be covered. The CD containing all the presentations will be prepared for distribution to the delegates.

Chairman : Dr. Arup ChakrabartiCo Chairman : Dr. Anup ChirayathConvener : Dr. Jacob S MathewModerator : Dr. Rajiv Sukumaran

COURSE SYNOPSISThis video course deals with phacoemulsification in commonly encountered different/difficult

situations. Each challenging situation will be demonstrated by two leading experts employing well edited video clippings and will be followed by a critical discussion by a panel of experienced panelists. This course will be useful for attendees who have been performing phacoemulsification and even by those who are contemplating to start phaco in the near future. Techniques to convert to a safer non-phaco technique when difficulties are encountered will also be covered.

COURSE OBJECTIVE At the end of the course the attendee will learn how to perform good phacoemulsification in

some of the challenging cataract situations that may be frequently encountered.
