Penfolds Grange Bin 95 ‘07 9,350Penfolds Bin 95 Grange Shiraz is Australian wine royalty the equal of any 1st Growth or Grand Cru. The architect of the modern Australian wine industry, Max Schubert, first created his masterpiece back in 1951 and released his first commercial vintage in 1952. Grange is a superbly perfumed and concentrated wine that combines the intense fruit and ripe tannins while extracting the nuances of new, fine grained American Oak after 20 months’ careful maturation. Known to be capable of ageing gracefully for well over 20 years, the 2007 Grange is certain to become another classic. Born out of a difficult vintage with low rainfall and higher than average summertime temperatures, the resulting wine is nothing more than a triumph of skill and terroir.

Penfolds Grange Bin 95 ‘11 9,800This 2011 vintage is a blend consisting of 96% Shiraz and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and Magill Estate. The intense colour, concentration of fruit flavour and integrated tannins are once again the hallmarks of an outstanding wine.

Maturation - 18-20 months in new American oakhogsheads (300 litres). 10 tonne stainless steel tankswith header boards, at Nuriootpa. 3-7 tonne openfermenters with wax lined/wooden header boards atMagill Estate. All components complete fermentationin barrel.

Variety - Primarily Shiraz with a small percentage ofCabernet Sauvignon in most years (usually less than8%). First vintage 1951 (experimental), 1952(commercial).

Penfolds Grange Bin 95 2009 10,450Dedicated to the late Max Schubert, the PenfoldsMaster wine maker & vigneron. The nose is full of ripe Cassis and Blueberry, a hint of pencil shavings and Szechuan pepper lies underneath. The palate is medium plus bodied, a finer and more classically structured Grange with great composition and poise. The mid palate is full of bramble fruit which leads gently into a finish of finely grained, integrated and savoury tannins and a cooling menthol acidity.

Penfolds Grange Bin 95’ 12 11,000The 62nd consecutive vintage release from Grange, from the 2012 South Australian vintage, leads a dynasty of wines in the Penfolds collection 2016. Unfolding layers of allure, plushness and character, the 2012 Grange is stylistically akin to 1963 Grange, with a contemporary “2012” personality. The collection in its entirety, displays red wines of refinement and cellaring potential. And white wines which deliver complexity and vigour; a testament to the enduring Penfolds“House style” upheld since 1844. Staying true to philosophy, “The Collection and opened and enjoyed now, or potentially over the next four or more decades” says chief wine maker Peter Gago at Penfolds.

Penfolds Grange Bin 95 ‘10 12,650James Suckling - "The 2010 Grange arrives with much expectation and does not disappoint. This is a powerhouse, structurally superior to both the 2009 and 2008 vintages and breathtakingly dense, long and precise. The nose has cola, blackberry, vanillin, hard brown spices of all kinds, coal smoke, meaty charcuterie elements and a strong tarry, savoury note that speaks of the 85% Barossa Valley componentry. The palate has super deep tannins that fan out through flavoursome black fruits. These are purposeful tannins; they bristle on the palate, tantalizing and assertive yet playful, strong not aggressive. The power here is the thing; this has mouth-coating density and terrific drive, so tightly coiled, it gives enough away to suggest a very, very long cellaring wine is here. This is a classic Grange that will please the serious collectors. A wine of genuine pedigree. Better in 2026."
