Numac’sHighResolutionVerticalProfiling(HRVP)toolsprovidedetailedmappingofsubsurfacecontaminationusingtheMembraneInterfaceProbe(MIP),UltravioletOpticalScanningTool(UVOST®)andtheHydraulicProfilingtool(HPT).

TheMIPquicklyandefficientlydelineatesVOCcontamination(suchasBTEX,PCE,TCEandmethane).UVOST® uses laser induced fluorescence to detect all types of petroleum,suchaspetrol,diesel,oils(bunker,crude,hydraulic,waste,cutting,etc.)as well as creosote and coal tar. The HPT is a logging tool that measures the pressure required to inject a flow of water in to the soil. These technologies enable rapid, real time, high resolution impact delineation. By driving the tools vertically through the subsurfaceprovidescontinuoussamplingwithadatacollectionrateof65readingspervertical metre, to effectively identify contamination zones.

Data can be incorporated in to modelling software to generate 3D graphics that represent contaminant plume geometry. When used in combination with soil lithology logs, contaminant migration pathways may also be defined. HRVP can add value to site investigations, along with enhancing conceptual site models and providing additional lines of evidence for validation of remediation projects.

Numac provides services for site divestment and remediation. This includes building demolition,decommissioningofproductstoragesystems,suchasabovegroundtanks(AST)andundergroundproductstoragesystems(UPSS),includingpipeworkandinfrastructure.

We have the unique mix of skills and experience needed for combining demolition and decommissioning with remediation. We like to know if we are dealing with contamination issues before we reach it, so we offer cost-effective solutions such as plume delineation and pre-treatment of contamination to reduce soil disposal costs.

Our remediation systems demonstrate our intimate understanding of the complexities of contaminated soils and groundwater. By combining our knowledge of drilling, tank removal and remediation we’ve developed innovative and cost-effective remediation solutions, suchasourinsituremediationsystems.InsituChemicalOxidation(ISCO)andInsituChemicalReduction(ISCR)treatsoilandgroundwatercontaminationwithoutproducingwastestreamsthatrequirepermitting,treatmentordisposal.Evenbetter,ISCOandISCRcontaminant reductions are measured in days, rather than in the years taken by costly, conventional remediation methods.

Numac was chosen to work with 7-Eleven stores when they acquired the Mobile retail fuels Business in 2010 and needed a service provider with the knowledge, experience and track record of project delivery.

results: So far 140 environmental assessments have been done of the 250 sites, and 7-Eleven is proceeding on track with drilling and site assessment works.
