PHILADELPHIA, USADrexel University’s lively urban campus is located in one of America’s most exciting cities — Philadelphia. In a world-class city for business, art, and education, Philadelphia’s skyscrapers are coupled with a blend of distinct and culturally diverse neighborhoods, creating a unique metropolitan yet intimate urban experience.Surrounded by tree-lined residential blocks just minutes away from Philadelphia’s downtown Center City district, Drexel makes its home in the neighborhood of University City. Comprised of five additional universities and dotted by coffee shops, restaurants, shops, and farmers markets, University City is just one of the many reasons Philadelphia makes an ideal place for students to live, play, and learn. It’s no wonder Philadelphia is known for its expansive murals and abundance of cheesesteaks — it’s a city with a deep appreciation for the arts and culture. But with a thriving shopping and nightlife scene, an eclectic spectrum of art galleries, boutiques and museums, and a restaurant scene revered by both five-star chefs and underground foodies, there’s much more to Philadelphia than its legendary icons.Philadelphia, a city steeped in tradition, is sprouting roots as one of the nation’s most up-and-coming hubs for innovation, technology, and economic growth. Home to such powerhouse companies as Comcast and Urban Outfitters — as well as a quickly growing number of energetic start-ups — Philadelphia is a natural fit for Drexel’s dynamic community.

More on Cost of Living in Philadelphia
Exchange students are not obligated to live in Drexel residence halls, but many students have found this option very convenient because signing a lease from a distance can be quite challenging. On-campus housing is guaranteed for full-year (fall/winter/spring) students, but cannot be guaranteed for 1-2 term students. All Drexel dormitories are double rooms so students must share a bedroom with another student. Some of the dormitory rooms are suites in which several students share the same living area including the bathroom and kitchen. While some housekeeping is provided, it is primarily the responsibility of students to clean up after themselves.
