A large financial cooperative at the service
of the community!
Desjardins Group’s social responsibility is linked to its very
nature as a cooperative financial group which, as its mission
requires, aims to “contribute to the economic and social
well-being of individuals and communities”.
Since the time of the very first caisses in the Vaudreuil-
Soulanges region, their primary task has always been to serve
the members and accompany them effectively in activities
aimed at developing both their own wealth and that of their
community, over the long-term.
The entire range of means that Caisse Desjardins de Vaudreuil-
Soulanges has at its disposal is put to use towards achieving
that goal. Whether it be to accompany business members in
carrying out their projects, or to respond to the needs of
individual members to whom it offers accessible financial
services that are adapted to their needs — whether these
needs be very basic or whether they require a more complex
offer — Caisse Desjardins de Vaudreuil-Soulanges is a financial
institution of choice.
The substantial sponsorships, donations and scholarships
awarded by the Caisse provide the possibility for many
organizations and institutions to carry out their mission and for
many young people to prepare a better future.

Forward-thinking people, men and women with strong
values, builders at heart working in the spirit of
cooperation: that is what made up the very essence
of Desjardins Group in Vaudreuil-Soulanges.*

* Excerpt from a speech given on September 15, 2009, in honour of the 75th anniversary of Desjardins Group’s presence in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges area.

We are very proud to present the Caisse Desjardins de Vaudreuil-Soulanges Cooperative Difference
Report for 2009. This document constitutes the very first report to be produced for the new Caisse
Desjardins de Vaudreuil-Soulanges and, in its pages, you will be able to see the very positive
consequences resulting from the creation of this new institution.
The year 2009 was even more significant since it included the celebration of the 75th anniversary
of the presence of Desjardins in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges area — 75 years of active participation and
wonderful cooperation with all players in our region. A new caisse was born, bearing the heritage
that was passed down for generations to make the Caisse what it is today — a productive, different
and responsible financial cooperative at the service of the community.
By becoming a member-owner, you have shown your desire to make a difference in the
community, and this report is the result of that. Our cooperative difference is what in fact sets us
apart from other banking institutions. It is by sharing part of our surplus earnings that we can
concretely contribute to the economic and social well-being of people and communities in
Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
You will note that we have vast involvement in numerous fields of intervention. More than 75
projects have been undertaken, involving everything from education, to community services, and
from economic development to sports and culture. Our power of action on your behalf is our power
to positively impact the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region.
We are honoured by your trust, and we will proudly continue our mission of creating a better world
together.
Denis LapointePresident of the Board of Directors
Caisse Desjardins de Vaudreuil-Soulanges is particularly proud to note how its commitment to
invest in the local community has created beneficial and profitable spin-offs for the region.
Through its Community Development Fund (CDF) and its donations and sponsorships programs, the
amounts remitted by your Caisse to local organizations and institutions have made it possible to
make a difference in numerous areas, and at the same time to reach out to various fringes of the
population. Thus, as at December 31, 2009, nearly $700,000 was paid out to the community, with
most of the sum originating from the CDF.
Through this contribution, we have, in our way, saluted the commitment and dedication of all the
people who work within these organizations and institutions. Whether it be to contribute to the less
fortunate, to young people, the elderly, families, business people or to ensure the continuity of our
cultural, religious, or historical heritage, each in its own way, plays a decisive role in improving the
well-being of our local population.
The social face of our community is made up of young people and of men and women of all ages who
work towards an ideal where cooperation, aligned with noble convictions, has a real positive impact
on meeting the needs of our community. Because of this, we will continue, with our heart and
soul, to be committed to maintaining and perpetuating the values of Desjardins Group within our
community and our region.
A large financial cooperative at the service of the community!

More than just a roof over your head Because we have our
region’s seniors’ well-
being at heart, it was
important to financially
contribute to building
community residential
units for seniors. Thus,
36 new residential units
at Résidence Hector-
Besner in Coteau-du-
Lac, the 37 others from
the first phase under-
taken by the Société
d’habitation de Coteau-
du-Lac and the 14 new
units built in Pointe-
des-Cascades will make
it possible for senior citizens residing there to benefit from a better quality of life and
safer surroundings that meet their needs.
In addition, as we wish to contribute to improving the quality of life of the residents
of the Rigaud and Coteau-du-Lac residences, the Caisse offers its support to the
Fondation des centres d’hébergement de Soulanges which oversees the
renovation and improvement of infrastructures and the acquisition of new
equipment.
The Caisse is also
happy to contribute
upwards of $100,000
to the building of the
Maison des soins
palliatifs de Vaudreuil-
Soulanges palliative
care facility that will
offer services to people of all ages suffering from terminal illness.
For the well-being of children For the 7th time, we have
actively participated in the
Salon des vins de
Vaudreuil-Soulanges wine
trade show, held at Maison
Trestler on May 6, 2009.
This benefit event was
held to collect money for
the Fondation des enfants
de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, whose mission is to assist the most disadvantaged children
in the region. An amount of $50,000 was remitted to that foundation.
For the past several years,
we have also been happy
to contribute to paediatric
research in Québec by
participating in the
Fondation des étoiles
telethon, at benefit
suppers or balls organized
in the region.
COOPERATE FOR A MORE UNIFIED WORLD
The cooperative difference is the foundation of Desjardins Group, and is central to the mission of Caisse Desjardins de Vaudreuil-Soulanges. This cooperation
with the community, which is beneficial to the entire population, is done through various actions in areas such as health, anti-poverty and community.

At the heart of municipalitiesThe churches in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region were
very happy to be able to rely on the support of their
financial cooperative, whether through the purchase
of advertising space in parish bulletins or through
sponsorships offered to benefit activities organized in
their honour.
Thus, the second
annual golf tournament
at Club de golf
St-Zotique for the
benefit of Saint-
François-sur-le-Lac
parish was held on July
11, 2009. Mr. Jean-Paul
Régis, Vice-President of
the Board of Directors of the Caisse was the honorary president.
The Caisse is also proud to contribute to numerous village and family festivals
organized by regional municipalities: Pincourt, Terrasse-Vaudreuil, St-Télesphore,
Saint-Lazare, Vaudreuil-Dorion and L’Île-Perrot, to mention a few. Moreover, through
its financial support, the Caisse also contributes to the revitalization of these
villages by participating in the modernization of infrastructures —
especially recreational
infrastructures, as was
the case at Pointe-
Fortune.
Thanks to its financial
support of $14,000,
the Caisse made it
possible for the fire
departments of Vaudreuil-Soulanges (of which there are about 20) to acquire an
interactive and educational simulator in order to help the public understand the fire
hazards that can be found in their home as well as learn more about emergency
safety measures. The simulator Maison Toutrisque can travel from town to town for
these demonstrations to teach prevention and can be of benefit to all members of
the public from age 7 to 77.
Humanitarian work Mr. Denis Lapointe,
President of the Board
of Directors of the
Caisse had the privilege
of being Honorary
Co-President for the
annual golf tournament
for the Fondation du
Centre hospitalier
régional du Suroît, held
on September 15, 2009. Thanks to the active participation of Desjardins and of the
organizing committee as well as the generosity of the sponsors, $133,000 was
remitted to the foundation to purchase advanced medical equipment.
Centraide Sud-Ouest du Québec received a gift of $5,000 from the Caisse. This
financial contribution is an indirect way to assist organizations in Vaudreuil-
Soulanges, since part of the amounts collected is then redistributed to not-for-
profit organizations in the region.
Motivated and inspired by the cause, the employees of the Caisse met to run or
walk in the Relais pour
la vie held on May 29,
2009 at the Base de
Plein Air Les Cèdres
outdoor activity centre.
Your Caisse also finan-
cially supported this
event. The money col-
lected was paid to the
Canadian Cancer
Society to help in the fight against this disease.
COOPERATE FOR A MORE UNIFIED WORLD
9
Inspired by its mission and its vision, Caisse Desjardins de Vaudreuil-Soulanges offers financial products and services that meet the needs of individual and busi-
ness members. But the Caisse’s contribution to the economic development of the region is also achieved in many other ways: recognition of outstanding business-
es, participation in various business networks and encouragement for local and regional development initiatives.
Getting involved to developYour Desjardins Caisse
is among the several
regional partners who
came together to create
the Ovations contest
whose objective is to
promote the region
through its high-quality
businesses, individuals
and community organizations. The winners were celebrated at a recognition evening
held on November 4, 2009.
The traditional oyster supper organized by Desjardins in the region for many years
attracted more than 300 people from the community in 2009 and represented a
wonderful opportunity to create or solidify ties with the members present.
The Caisse is also very active in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region through its local
business associations, such as: the Réseau des femmes d’affaires du Québec
(Women’s network), the Association des gens d’affaires de Rigaud (AGAR), de L’Île-
Perrot (AGAIP), de Soulanges (AGAS) and the Chambre de commerce et d’industrie
de Vaudreuil-Dorion (CCIVD). The events held by these organizations are aimed at
promoting regional development and honouring businesses or individuals who were
outstanding in their industry or in the region. Some of these events have become a
tradition.
That was the case for the Soirée vins et fromages wine and cheese event put on by
the Association des gens d’affaires de Soulanges during which the Recognition
awards are given out,
recognizing certain
members for excel-
lence. During the 2009
event held on February
16, we were proud to
see Mr. Sylvain Bélisle,
General Manager of
Caisse Desjardins de
Vaudreuil-Soulanges, receive the Personality of the Year award for his visionary
mind, his humanism and his leadership that he has put to use in
developing not only his Caisse but the region as well.
On June 12, 2009, at the Gala Énergie event, the Réseau des femmes d’affaires du
Québec, supported by Desjardins, paid tribute to the women managers and
entrepreneurs of the region.
SUPPORT FOR REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT
10
Vaudreuil-Soulanges, a jewel to be promoted! The Vaudreuil-
Soulanges region was
highlighted at the
Salon Habitat Ville et
Banlieue home show
held in Montréal from
March 12 to 15, 2009.
The region was well
represented by the
Caisse, the Centre local de développement de Vaudreuil-Soulanges and about
fifteen other businesses and organizations that, together, showcased Vaudreuil-
Soulanges as a great place to live. The Caisse was active at the Salon, offering
financial services to new homeowners and people considering renovating, to guide
them in carrying out
their plans.
For many years, the
Festival des couleurs
de Rigaud has been a
wonderful opportunity
for residents of
Vaudreuil-Soulanges to
appreciate the wildlife
and ecological heritage of the Mont-Rigaud region during the fall foliage season. We
are very proud to be associated to this exciting weekend during which 23
municipalities from the
Vaudreuil-Soulanges
region will be putting
on a show to write
home about!
Through a sponsorship of $10,000, the Caisse
was a part of the initiative led by the farm mar-
kets of Rigaud and Coteau-du-Lac in order to
implement an action plan to create a major pro-
motional impact for the region.
Aware of the need to preserve our regional heritage, your cooperative made a
financial contribution to the Fondation Ste-Jeanne-de-Chantal N.D.I.P. and to the
Société de développement du Parc historique de la Pointe-du-Moulin during a
benefit supper held on September 12, 2009, in order to participate in safeguarding
and showcasing these historical areas.
SUPPORT FOR REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT
11
This event was also an opportunity to award
Fondation Desjardins scholarships. Sophie
Houde of Rigaud, studying business administra-
tion at Université du Québec à Montréal, was
awarded a $1,250 university-level scholarship.
Marie-Ève Brabant of Coteau-du-Lac, completing
her doctorate in psychology focusing on
research and intervention, was awarded a
$10,000 special bursary open to the fields of
actuarial science, finance and health.
Caisse Desjardins de Vaudreuil-Soulanges pays particular attention to young people. Education is one of the main levers for the economic and social development of
any society and the Caisse strongly encourages it by granting scholarships to young people in the region. The Caisse also invests in young people by supporting
schools, libraries, maisons des jeunes (youth centres) and other projects with an educational vocation.
INVESTING FOR THE FUTURE
Education, the way to the futureHeld on October 16, 2009, in keeping with Desjardins Week and Cooperation Week,
the scholarship remittance ceremony enabled 75 students from the Vaudreuil-
Soulanges region to receive a scholarship worth between $500 and $5,000 to
encourage them to pursue their studies. A total of $100,000 in scholarships was
remitted during the ceremony. This was a wonderful way to make the cooperative
nature of the Caisse very visible by saluting young people in the region, who,
through their innovative and successful actions, will be able to meet the challenges
of the future.
27 undergraduate scholarship winners
5 vocational scholarshipwinners, 9 master’s anddoctorate scholarship winners

In order to contribute to
recognizing students
who are outstanding
through the excellence
of their school achieve-
ments, their persever-
ance, or due to their
social commitment, we
are happy to remit,
each year, excellence scholarships for young people in secondary schools, such as
Soulanges, Chêne bleu, Cité-des-Jeunes and Collège Bourget.
Inspired by the idea of offering students at École secondaire Soulanges (ESS) and,
more broadly, the regional community at large, a modern space enabling people to
meet and to experience theatre arts, the Caisse is proud to contribute up to
$100,000 to the renovation project for the School auditorium, through the school’s
foundation.
The support for schools and their foundations
is sometimes done in a very original manner,
as was the case with the purchase of greeting
cards during the holiday season, made by
students of École Notre-Dame-de-Lorette de
Pincourt and École secondaire Soulanges. This
was another way to encourage the creativity of
young people in our community.
We are also very proud
to financially support
the creation of a con-
tinuing education
service in Vaudreuil-
Soulanges. Through a
partnership between
Collège de Valleyfield
and the Vaudreuil-
Soulanges Local Development Centre (CLD), which makes one of its classrooms
available for the college, makes it possible to provide the public with access to
college-level courses.
Toward new horizonsThe “Première prise” Festival, a short film competition involving the secondary
schools of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges area, received the financial support of the
Caisse.
Also, in order to
encourage young
people to read, your
cooperative supports
libraries offering
summer reading clubs.
It also brought financial support to the Maisons des jeunes youth centres in the
region, to enable them to continue to offer their services and activities.
Finally, to help young people reach their full potential, the Caisse has the pleasure
of supporting the Optimist Clubs of the area, including those in St-Polycarpe,
Rigaud, Les Cèdres, Vaudreuil-Dorion, St-Zotique and Coteau-du-Lac.
INVESTING FOR THE FUTURE
What is more natural for Caisse Desjardins de Vaudreuil-Soulanges than to encourage the well-being of its members by supporting sports and recreation activities?
Art under the open sky!We are also very happy
to be associated with
the Piste cyclable en
oeuvres project, by
sponsoring three of the
23 banner stands that
will line approximately
twenty kilometres of
the Soulanges bicycle
path, between Pointe-
des-Cascades and Les Coteaux. This is an initiative of the “Autour de nous” regional
artist group; each banner stand will show two works by artists from the region. This
is a wonderful way to
promote local art while
consolidating our
regional identity.
Long live sport!Convinced of the bene-
fits of physical
activity, we provide
various forms of
encouragement to
sports associations in
the region: the Minor
Baseball Association
of Coteau and Les
Cèdres, the Minor
Hockey Associations of Hudson-Rigaud-
St-Lazare, Vaudreuil-Dorion and Soulanges,
the Figure Skating Club of Trois-Lacs. We also
support sports events such as the Cyclo-Tour
St-Lazare or special projects such as the
building of the rock-climbing wall at École La
Riveraine or the “Actif à vie” physical activity
promotion program in the Trois-Lacs school
board.
A night of songThe Caisse had the pleasure of sponsoring the Soirées en
chansons Desjardins with an amount of $5,000. This event
was held in a new space and atmosphere at the Coteau-du-Lac
Wilson Pavilion.
ENCOURAGING SPORTS AND RECREATION
13
14
Operating in a region so rich in art and history, the Caisse is proud to encourage the cultural milieu of Vaudreuil-Soulanges. Through its donations and sponsorships,
it offers its financial support to organizations and institutions operating in a number of different fields, from heritage preservation and improvement to the
promotion of multitalented artists.
Art and culture in Vaudreuil-Soulanges, a source of inspiration
The program to support
cultural initiatives
in the Vaudreuil-
Soulanges region is the
result of a partnership
with the regional
county municipality of
Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
The program is aimed at
contributing to the cultural energy and vitality of the region by supporting
innovative and original cultural projects. This has led, among other things, to the
granting of $25,000 in Desjardins scholarships to Vaudreuil-Soulanges artists, to
support them financially in their research, creation and distribution of original
works. On June 10, 2009, the sixteen artists and organizations from the cultural
community who had won scholarships and grants were announced. Thanks to this
partnership, the program made it possible, once again in 2009, to inject $55,000 in
the cultural sector.
The Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges can rely on the sponsorship of the
Caisse that enables it to offer various exhibits, especially the permanent exhibit
entitled “Aux rythmes des saisons”, which puts the objects of the museum
collection into context through the history of rural life from 1850 to 1950.
Your Caisse is also proud to support the Société de sauvegarde de la mémoire de
Félix Leclerc by sponsoring the project to restore his home located on Chemin de
l’Anse in Vaudreuil-Dorion. The involvement of the Caisse will go even further than
that since the President of the Board of Directors of the Caisse, Mr. Denis Lapointe,
agreed to preside the financing campaign for the Société. The improvement of the
Félix Leclerc property will not only help perpetuate the public’s interest in the wealth
of the works he created
during the long period
he spent in our region,
but will also benefit the
general public, espe-
cially the artists in the
region and the cultural
stakeholders overall.
This project constitutes an additional cultural attraction in Vaudreuil-Soulanges and
will become a high-interest tourist destination.
Musical Voyage We have had the opportunity to provide financial encouragement to l’Harmonie de
la Cité-des-Jeunes of the Trois-Lacs school board to allow 45 young people to live
their dream of going on a concert tour in France. Success awaited these talented
young people. We salute Mr. Marc-André Thibault, professor and musical director at
the secondary school Cité des jeunes, for his nomination by La Presse newspaper
as Personality of the Week on March 8, 2009. The daily paper recognized the
exemplary dedication and skill of this man who continues to make a major
difference for young people through his passion for music.
