CREATING CAD TO GIS STANDARDS IN AURORA

BUILDING PERMIT DATA DISCUSSION

Building & Land Development

Specification (BLDS) www.permitdata.org

Discussion Questions

Have you heard of this specification?

◦ If so, have you looked into it?

Is your team involved with permit data?

What does permit tracking look like in

your jurisdiction?

Is this something the DRDC should keep

an eye on?

DRCOG UPDATES

Regional Zoning Map

Regional Zoning Map

Method:

1. Consultant is reading zoning codes and cross-walking them to a generalized regional classification system.

2. DRCOG uses local zoning data to map the regional data.

3. DRCOG dissolves all local data into the regional classification system and removes that attribution.

4. Final product shows only regional classification geometries and attribution.

Regional Zoning Map

Provide feedback through the Data Portal

(Nov-Dec)

Published in the Regional Data Catalog

(Winter 2016)

InfoGroup Data

DRCOG purchased IG business and residential data for internal use.

Group Purchase Idea: Similar to DRAPP where we share costs

Annual purchase in January to get the past year

DRCOG will only provide data to contributing members starting in 2016.

Currently negotiating terms with IG. When those are final, I’ll send out letters of intent (contracts) to those that have expressed interest in contributing.

Benefits of Group Purchase

Ensures we can buy the data frequently

and consistently.

Contributes to our “master datasets”

◦ Master Employment = IG + QCEW

◦ Master Housing = IG + CoStar
