153rd Drayton Fair
Mayor’s MessageIt is my pleasure to have the opportunity to again welcome everyone to the Drayton Mapleton Fair. This is a greatoccasion for our vast agricultural community to display their commodities to their urban neighbors. This too, reminds our urban folks how fortunate we are to live in the heart of a prime agri community so we have someappreciation for the high quality, and the low cost of the food provided for us.
Of course, the fair also provides entertainment for the people of all ages with a horse show, demolition derby, tractor pull, midway etc.
I encourage everyone to take the time to attend the fair and enjoy its many interesting and entertaining exhibits.
Yours truly,
John C. Green Mayor

It’s Snowing! It’s Snowing!By Jack Prelutsky
It’s snowing! It’s snowing!It drifts into the mounds,our car’s hidden under a hill,snow covers the rooftops,embraces the trees,and blankets my own windowsill.
It’s snowing! It’s snowing!I run like a hound,I romp and I roll like a fool.It’s snowing! It’s snowing!And if my luck holds,this morning they’ll close down the school.
GRADE 4: WRITE the following on lined, 3-ringed binder paper.
Jack Frost By Helen Bayley Davis
Someone painted pictures on myWindowpane last night -
Willow trees with trailing boughsAnd flowers, frosty white,
And lovely crystal butterflies; But when the morning sun
Touched them with it’s golden beams,They vanished one by one!

The Turkey Shot out of the Ovenby Jack Prelutsky
The Turkey shot out of the ovenand rocketed into the air,it knocked every plate off the tableand partly demolished a chiar.
It ricocheted into a cornerand burst with a deafening boom, then splattered all over the kitchen, completely obscuring the room.
I scraped and I scrubbed with displeasure, and throught with a chagrin as I mopped, that I’d never stuff a turkeywith popcorn that hadn’t been popped.
GRADES 7 AND 8: WRITE the following with pen, on lined, 3-ringbinder paper:
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Eveningby Robert Frost
Whose woods these are I think I know. His house is the village, though; He will not see me stopping hereTo watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queerTo stop without a farmhouse nearBetween the woods and frozen lakeThe darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shakeTo ask if there is some mistake. The only other sound’s the sweepOf easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,But I have promises to keep,And miles to go before I sleep,And miles to go before I sleep.
