GENERAL NOTES AND QUANTITIES

GENERAL NOTES:

1. WHERE PUBLIC UTILITY FIXTURES ARE SHOWN AS EXISTING ON THE

PLANS OR ENCOUNTERED WITHIN THE CONSTRUCTION AREA, IT

SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO NOTIFY THE

OWNERS OF THOSE UTILITIES PRIOR TO BEGINNING ANY

CONSTRUCTION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL AFFORD ACCESS TO

THESE FACILITIES FOR NECESSARY MODIFICATION OF SERVICES.

UNDERGROUND FACILITIES, STRUCTURES AND UTILITIES HAVE BEEN

PLOTTED FROM AVAILABLE SURVEYS AND RECORDS, AND THEREFORE

THEIR LOCATION MUST BE CONSIDERED APPROXIMATE ONLY. IT IS

POSSIBLE THERE MAY BE OTHERS, THE EXISTENCE OF WHICH IS

PRESENTLY NOT KNOWN OR SHOWN. IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S

CONTRACTOR SHALL TAKE CARE TO PROTECT THE EXISTING TREES

WITHIN THE PROJECT LIMITS. THE COST FOR PROTECTING EXISTING

TREES SHALL BE INCLUDED IN THE VARIOUS ITEMS OF WORK FROM

WHICH THE TREES NEED PROTECTED.

6. THE TOP SIX (6) INCHES OF THE DISTURBED AREAS SHALL BE FREE

OF ROCK AND DEBRIS AND SHALL BE SUITABLE FOR THE

ESTABLISHMENT OF VEGETATION, SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF

THE ENGINEER.

7. THE CONTRACTOR IS EXPECTED TO HAVE MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT,

(or subdrain) to the intake will be measured and paid for separately.

The width of the curb and gutter varies up to 6" (from 2.0'-3.0') to match proposed back of curb location and existing gutter line joint. Gutter

thickness shall match the existing pavement plus 3" for new HMA overlay. A BT-3 joint connection to the existing PCC pavement is

incidential to this item. The limits for measurement under this item of work will be where the PCC Curb and Gutter are reasonably uniform.

Irregularly shaped areas will be measured for payment as PCC Pavement.

Hot Mix Asphalt for Crack Filling

This item to be used at the Engineer's discretion at locations with large crack and/or offset joints. This work will generally require hand

placement and compaction of asphalt mixture.

Milling

All milling areas vary in thickness from 0" to 3". Measurement for milling areas will be without regard for thickness of pavement milled. At

removal limits, the use of saws and hand tools may be required to form a clean vertical joint for HMA overlay.

A full-depth sawcut will be required at the removal limits, including along the gutterline joint. The width of the curb and gutter to be removed

is generally 2.5', but may vary up to 6". Refer to R Sheets for locations.

Temporary Traffic Control

The contractor shall maintain access to local residents as long as practical while completeing work. All traffic control shall be in accordance

with the latest edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Refer to J Sheets for minimum traffic control signage.

Removal of Sign

Refer to R Sheets for locations. The City shall have the right of first refusal on all signs removed from the project. If the City does not want
