ExpIanatorv ~IS is the second exhibi-l tion of black and white

work held at the Art Institute by the artists represented in this collection. As in the first, the object is to show drawings made with special reference to reproduction in newspapers. and magazines. The collec-tion includes pen and ink, pencil, and wash drawings, with several monotypes. The character of the work embraces portrait drawings, cartoons, news pictures, and illustrations ·of stories: also wash drawings and monotypes intended for the better printing possibilities of magazine and book illus-tration.$$$$$$$$$$$
