DRAWER IN THE BEDROOMTry to communicate with the burglar

KAICHU 2

SAFETY

Since I treat burglars as

ordinary people in need, I

am fond of communicating

with them

SAFETY

KAICHU3

Drawer in the bedroom is the

first target for the burglar, in

which house owners tend to

hide their valuable stuff.

On the other hand, it is also a

great place to communicate

with the burglar.

Instead of valuable stuff, this

drawer stores various messag-

es to the burglar in a meta-

phor way.

The design process is divid-

ed into two stages to help

me focus.

Firstly, I designed the inter-

action in the digital space,

i.e. game, where I can focus

on the essential elements

in the interaction and what

kind of messages I would

like to provide.

Then, to make the inter-

action experience more

tangible, I translated my

ideas in digital space back

to a physical object, that is,

a drawer.

DESIGNING THE GAME

According to the confession

of a previous burglar, the

process of burglary could

be simplified as a burglar

breaks into your house,

then heads into the drawer

in the master bedroom,

where people used to hide

valuable stuff.

Then more design ideas

and strategy are developed

through the game proto-

typing.

So the game idea is quite

straightforward. The

burglar is symoblised as a

hand, which tries to reach

the jewel (valuable stuff)

through a certain path.

And the red wall stands for

the trigger of a trap.
