Drama conventions
• Typical props • Typical characters• Typical setting • Costume • Actors/actresses
Setting
• Council estates • School• Streets of the neighbourhood • Local park
My group has chosen these locations as it is vital to associate our setting of a gritty and run-down area to our theme of abuse. In which we conform to the stereotype of the scapegoated working class being the cause of abuse within society
Actors/ actresses
These Actors/ actresses are well known for being in drama styled films. These Actors/ actresses will suit our cast member listing well as the look the part and are good at adapting to the tone of the film
Characters
The actors/actresses chosen will need to be explicit and flexible with their acting ability. This is crucial for us, in order to help us create tension in the atmosphere of the film opening, due to conundrums they are facing. They will need to incorporate styles of other actors to get the real essence of their role.
Costumes
Clothing that associates with our drama
We will be looking for mostly hand made; worn out and torn, dirty clothing that will conform to our setting- inner city London
Hoodies will be used to subvert negative connotations of youth being violent with being vulnerable
School uniform to exaggerate innocence and vulnerability. Also suggest progression and learning
Typical Props
• Alcohol• Mobile phones • Knives • Guns
These are typical props used in the genre of drama. We will be using some props in our project which will revolve around our chosen topic of abuse.
