Join Drake Academy on a Flotilla Adventure in the British Virgin

Islands, where Drake host ‘Scott Fulcher’ will guide you through a

week of fun and relaxation. With the experience of Drake, you’ll

spend less time planning the itinerary and more time enjoying the

scenery as we travel aboard a fleet of luxury charter boats.

racing yachts and dinghies. He is excited to join Drake Academy’s

new Adventure Flotilla and will be on hand to help participants

learn more about enjoying the cruising life and all of the

adventures that come along with travelling the sea and landing in

diverse harbours.

What’s Included?

Flotilla

We provide you with your accommodation and host staff for the

duration of your visit, from the time you step on board until the

time you leave us.

Half Board

We provide all your drinks and food for breakfast and lunch*.

Each night we have a special menu planned for those on our all

inclusive Gastronomic Service.

On at least four occasions during your week this will be with one

of our partner restaurants who will provide you with a feast not

available to the walk-in public.

Flights

We are experts at delivering sailing experiences to the business

and holidaying community. We do not offer any flights to and

from the location but we can put you in touch with our partners

who do.

Tax and Insurances

There are a number of taxes and insurance levies to be settled on

arrival, they cover:

• Local Tourist Tax

• Boat Insurance

Premium Brands

Many of our guests have very good taste. We endeavour to make

sure the boat meets your expectations. Some of the premium

brands cannot be supplied through our complementarity service:

• Vintage Champagne

• Imported Spirits

• Cigars

But don’t worry, the cocktails will still be following - and all

complimentary of course.

Evening Meals

The Drake Academy has negotiated special deals with restaurants

at each of the locations the yacht moors. Most deals are only

possible through advanced booking as the ingredients will often

be specially caught fresh. We know many of you will want to

experience the genuine cuisine of the Caribbean and have limited

on board meals to just three with at least four ashore.

Regatta Day

The Bitter End Yacht Club provides one of the great opportunities

to race against your friends and fellow crew members. Whether

you have sailed before or are here for the first time, this event will

leave you with stories to tell for years to come! £45 half day.

Inclusive Dining

The Drake Academy has negotiated special deals with restaurants

at each of the locations the yacht moors. Most deals are only

Transfers

At Cane Garden Bay, Chef John at Myett’s Garden & Grille will provide a pig roast exclusively for the flotilla with complimentary drinks, salad and pudding. This option is not available to his walk-up customers.

Day 1

Cocktail and a briefing at the Marina, covering the week ahead. Priority Boarders will be taken to the boats to select their accommodation.

Day 2

Voyage to the Bight on Norman Island. Snorkelling at Treasure Point and Kelly’s cove. Explore the caves in the afternoon before heading to the Willy T for a party in the evening.

Day 3

Sail to the Baths, a dramatic formation of large granite boulders on the southwest tip of Virgin Gorda. Visit the large rock pools and the white sandy beach for snorkelling, then explore the trail behind the beach, through the boulders to Devils Bay in the South. Sail to Marina Cay in the evening for shopping and a meal on the veranda.

Day 4

Those who choose the diving package (£85 per half day) will join one of the leading dive companies for their introduction to scuba. The rest have a free morning to spend on the beach or at the marina. There is a short sail to Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour, stopping off at the Dogs for a chance to explore an authentic desert island. Evening in the Spanish Town with its many bars and restaurants.

Day 5

A sail to the Bitter End Yacht Club for a day of activities. Here you will be able to get competitive in a flotilla regatta (£85 per half day), use the Club’s dinghies, windsurfers, Hobie Cats and Stand up paddle boards, or simply relax by their excellent pool (all waters ports arranged locally, prices on request). Dinner and dancing at the Yacht Club’s Jamaican Barbecue.

Day 6

Sail 21 miles downwind to Cane Garden Bay, a gorgeous white-sand beach known for its lush tropical gardens and vivid sunsets. In the evening Chef John at Myett’s Garden & Grille will put on one of his famous pig roasts exclusively for the crew.

Day 7

Leisurely sail back to base. There is a chance of a stop at Deadman’s Bay on Peter Island for swimming, beach front hammocks and ice-cold drinks, then back to the ship for a wrap-up part and prize giving.

Day 8

A last swim at the Marina Inn pool before your onward journey.

If you are staying for two weeks, take the opportunity to visit the Capital Road Town with it’s lovely winding streets and hidden craft shops.

Day 9

A short trip to Sopers Hole in Frenchman’s Quay; the place I first sailed into the BVI in 1992! Here is a chance to see one of the most picturesque frontages in the Islands and a chance to try out that fancy dress (optional!) when dining at the jolly Roger!

Day 10

A sail to Jost Van Dyke and a chance to swim ashore and pay with your wet money (dried on a line behind the bar!) at the world famous ‘Soggy Dollar’.

Day 11/12

Here we set sail for a crossing to Anagada (the sunken Island). Here we will spend two days enjoying this fantastic coral formed island. For the inquisitive, you can explore on bikes and discover hidden gems such as the Conch Grave Yard, A sight to behold! Before tucking into some great food at one of beach front bars.

Day 13

A fetch back to the main islands and to Virgin Gorda North Sound; swimming and enjoying the surroundings, (the island is gorgeous), go snorkelling or scuba diving, You may want to enjoy lunch on your boat or visit any of the nearby restaurants. (They are all excellent). In the afternoon, set sail for either Trellis Bay, south east of Great Camanoe and west of Virgin Gorda.

Day 14/15

On the last day the crew help choose our last night’s destination followed by a leisurely sail back to base in time for final packing and prize giving. A chance to swap those all important address, friendships made on yachts can last a lifetime.
